I'm partial to the Brotherhood mostly because I've got a soft spot for Power Armor and Energy Weapons

I really like all the subtle mentions and clues about the Enclave in New Vegas though; things like the various NPCs who dance around the fact that they were in the Enclave (and the stuff that gives them away like the Enclave locker in Cannibal Johnson's cave), pieces of "Remnants" armor scattered about, stuff like that

Sergeant Arch Dornan rips you a new one for lacking power armour.

I can't stand the tesla armor the enclave wears. the stuff is so ugly. T-51b or Hellfire.

The only good Enclave power armor was the armor from Fo2. In FO2 the Enclave armor was known as Advanced Combat armor and how more resistance to damage than the T-51B. Another thing to mention is that the damage mechanics were much different because in FO1 and 2 you could become bullet proof where as with FO3 and NV the armor in general only exists to reduce damage taken.

I also wish that Bethesda touched up a bit more the Brotherhood of steel structure and organization. You had the scribes which wore robes and spent all day designing weapons and doing science stuff, while the knights were given combat armor and spent most of the day manufacturing stuff, while the paladins were given power armor and weapons to go out and fight and recover tech, while the eldars told everyone what to do from the safety of the bunker.

I also hope they ditch that stupid concept of good and evil. It's too generic and doesn't fit into fallout. The BOS was only concerned with pre-war technology and that was it. They became selfish and were basically hoarders. The Enclave only the other hand was kind of imba to begin with and only served to be the bad guys with cool armor.

One of my favorite random encounters was in fallout where you run into a fleeing and panicked caravan guard.

my favorite moment was confronting ulysses and making a last stand with him against the marked men.

i've never played fallout 1 or 2, but i own them.
which one should i play?

fallout 1. story is great but gameplay mechanics are horrible unless you enjoyed games like Final Fantasy.

I've tried to play Fallout 1 twice now and I can't go through with it

Both, but I'd suggest playing Fallout 1 first.

Why limit yourself to just one game? Start with Fallout 1 because it is a first in the story.

I can't do the quest For Auld Lang Syne in New Vegas because all the people I need to recruit don't talk to me, or the ones I can talk to won't bring up quest related dialogue.

Orion just keeps telling me "Now is not the time!", and editing all my faction stances to neutral through the console doesn't do anything so I don't know what to do.
