Author Topic: should marijuana be legalized for recreational use?  (Read 9558 times)

Well if there is research then it should be put out to the public like research done on tobacco and alcohol.

Probably since it's illegal nobody bothers to publicise it since you're not supposed to have it anyway.
You realize university's and private researchers get permission from the government before conducting such tests right?

If they do, their body absolutely tells them not to do it again.
in the wild
like deer and other stuff are mostly unaffected
its also pretty high in protein though

ffs I hate it when things get all philosophical. these points are clear and I really don't understand why people would disagree

1. weed does have side effects, as do all drugs including medicational drugs.
2. it will be a drawback in our advancement as a race from the cut of smoking. (weed is mostly taken through smoking)
3. since it's been illegal before, effects of widespread legalisation is not known but it can be safely assumed there will be negatives to society.
4. the only real positive is satisfying people's want for the drug...

Oh actually i just thought of another positive, it will make revenue for a country. But literally cant think of anything else.

weed legalization isn't going to plunge us into chaos dude

Did I loving imply that? At most I implied it's a drawback

Marijuana isn't going to single-handedly slow down the advancement of the human race

3. since it's been illegal before, effects of widespread legalisation is not known but it can be safely assumed there will be negatives to society.

As a firsthand witness of the effects of legalization, there are no substantial, recognizable negatives. Anything you've listed is conjecture.

4. the only real positive is satisfying people's want for the drug...

Marijuana has a vast amount of  benefits, one of the most prevalent being pain relief.

I bet you're really fun at parties.

It's a drawback

There are better drugs for pain relief, also marijuana is already legalised for medical cases.

"negativities to society" and "it will be a drawback from our advancement as a race" kinda seems like you're going to see everyone being antisocial assheaded pricks because they use weed. it's not going to be this human race crippling thing that's going to send us back to the dark ages

It's safe to assume that there will be negatives, as with almost everything new that's introduced.

Also i consider the cut in smoking an advancement because smoking was causing serious health issues

It wasn't intended as a personal jab at people who smoke weed, but it's not like i'm lying either. These are true.

It's a drawback

How?

5.356 million people live in colorado based on 2014 consensus. That's pretty wide-spread

Marijuana has more positives than recreational usage, I was just stating one of the benefits.

smoking was causing serious health issues

Do you mean smoking nicotine or smoking marijuana?

This thread needs to end

All it will become is an argument between stoners and anti-stoners giving facts and defending their sides. It will just be one continuos loop of arguing between two sides who won't stop until the other says they are wrong.

How?

Smoking kills, reduction in usage of smoking products = success

Colorado is not the world

If it's not for recreational usage and it actually helps people benefit their health then i'm all for it.

Both nicotine and marijuana, any drug.
Also it's not the nicotine in cigarettes that was causing the harm (other than causing an addiction), generally breating in fumes from anything is bad.
