Author Topic: Do you believe in any kind of afterlife?  (Read 11936 times)

Stopping here, you don't know what you're talking about. Not that I expected you to, but I was hoping you would at least try not to be obvious about it.
Good argument, it's almost like you were trying.

Also thanks for being an ass about it too.

christianity (and most other religions that use the same tactic) never made any sense to me. why is there a man who allegedly has so much power, a man who created us, yet never actually proves his own existence. and then, if you don't believe in him due to this, he punishes you??? he does not seem to be a very nice guy.

i just think it's wrong to life your life based upon what god thinks of you. if someone does a "sin" i don't think they should worry about their ticket to heaven being revoked.

i should add that I don't actually believe in heaven or god.

I mean the whole "cannot be proven or disproven" thing is true, but at the same time I think it warrants the burden of truth card to be played. I think it's quite ridiculous to say that there is an afterlife because we can't prove there isn't one. I personally think that the fact that no afterlife as been reliable observed is a telltale sign that one probably doesn't exsist. But it's equally as bullstuff for me to say that it 100% doesn't exsist. So just wait and see I guess! We'll find out one day!

To say that "there's no proof whether it does or doesn't exist so you can't say either" is flying spaghetti monster logic

Wow, this topic sure has lasted awhile without the expected flames. Good job, guys. (Did I just jinx us?)

Just saying, most people who think this way are ill-informed about Christianity and the Bible.

IRCC, sinning doesn't get your "ticket" revoked. Which is still a crazy concept, hey you believe in god? cool now you can sin all you'd like.

I'm also saying "saying there's an afterlife as fact is ignorant" as well.

However, you cannot deny the fact a spaghetti monster is fake, so it is truly possible, anything is possible.

There's nothing to argue about. You are saying things that are objectively false, probably based on whatever hearsay you've picked up from someone regurgitating a misinterpreted Wikipedia article.

Let me give you the most obvious hint on the most obvious thing: There are multiple meanings to the word "dimension."

To be honest, I prefer not to worry during my lifetime about what death will be like - I can go experience that if I need to find out, thanks. If there's some omnipotent being that controls everything, it's safe to assume that he/she/it will be reasonable, and most likely won't punish people simply because they didn't know who was the 'real thing' out of the hordes of theories humanity's thought up over the thousands of years we've been here as a species.

3 classical physical dimensions is what he meant
number of physical dimensions used in classical physics

I'm a Christian and believe in heaven for all of those who accept Jesus Christ as their savior

I believe the ones who believe in Jesus as their Lord and savoir will enter the kingdom of God. Those who do not believe in him as your Lord and savoir will be damned to the depths of hell.

I'd like to go to hell so I can have a fiddling contest with the devil
