sometimes. depends on the person.

in some cases, people stop getting aroused by regular love and have to do more outlandish things to get the same enjoyment.

what exactly counts as research? when I do jerk off to real people, it's like, always people that I know personally. especially my bf, annnd, I really can't imagine myself having a problem getting a boner from him in person when it's so easy with pictures. but maybe? idk how this stuff works really

It's all based per person as Frequency said. I had a few problems keeping glorious last time I had the chance to between people, and until recently it was completely impossible for me to do so by thought and self stimulation alone.

A couple years back I was in math class and our teacher said something kinda disrespectful, and I had some kind of incredible retort. I wish I could remember what it was now, because it was one of those moments where you think back to a situation and think of a really clever response, but it happened RIGHT THERE
I said it really quietly, but loud enough for several of my classmates to hear. As soon as I said it I realized I shouldn't and I just kinda shut up, but the teacher knew I said something because a bunch of people laughed and did the general "ooohhhh" thing. I was all set because she didn't know, but one of my classmates decided she should know and told her and she was really really mad at me for like a month, but my teachers all love me no matter what and she got over it.
