I think he means cables connected with 'segments'. I think cloth physics would be needed for this.
There's some rope stuff in the source engine mod kit, go pick up rope.ccp and rope.h and mess around with them.
You could also make it so when you touch it, you swing? =o
That would mean cloth physics in a string of mountable models. You could draw a line/cable between these points. It's feasible, just not quite easy to do.
In regards to the above quotes, that is not what I meant but I realise that some may think that.
My idea was for a non-swinging, non-physics type rope, solid in nature and unmoving. More of a decorative feature rather than a "play item".
The DTS shape I mentioned could either be a repeating shape, duplicated by the script (this would be good for making chains and stuff to save modelling) or it could be made of one DTS shape stretched (Read: scaled) to whatever length needed (good for lasers and regular ropes).
As for "stealing" your comic, I apologise. I just liked the art style, the admin looked so bored lol. That, and my dragon avatar was looking a bit boring after awhile.
Badspot would have to make engine changes.
Do you mean for the physics thing (which I didn't request) or for a basic static rope tool in general?
