Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies was good, and it's for the DS.
I was always annoyed though that it was on DS, and DS uses outdated network security, so I couldn't connect to my router and the internet and get interesting weapons/armours online.

legend of zelda minish cap
pokemon mystery dungeon

thats all I ever played

Brain Training games are quite interestings.

'Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?' has a large selection of sudoku puzzles, which are quite fun, and being on the DS you can quite easily put in little notes in each square to work out what goes where, which is something a bit messier to do with sudoku on paper.
Also, it teaches you tricks for sudoku too.

Rhythm heaven/paradise/whatever
Warioware touched
Sonic Rush

I played the crap out of Donkey Kong Country on my Gameboy Advance.

megaman battle network games

and megaman starforce

megaman and kirby

Annoyed me too. However for some reason, there's some of DS games that don't actually download content online. Some DS games have the online content on the game itself, but use the wi-fi connection to activate it, which doesn't really make that much sense seeing how all of the online content in DS games were free. Dragon Quest IX was one of those games I believe.

There were some games that did download actual content like say Picross 3D or Warioware D.I.Y.

Also Ghost Trick Phantom Detective is a pretty interesting game for the DS.

Iridion 3D for Game Boy Advance

oh yeah, and the Mega Man Zero Collection.

I spent days on that stuff.

Pokemon Tomodachi Collection. It's like Tomodachi Life but with less features and a bit of limitations due to it being on the DS. Also, it's Japan only so you'll have to get it through a site like Amazon.

I don't think be wants to learn moonrunes just so he can play a game.
