okay i'm going to assume you've been living under a rock but the word monday (with an a at the end if you want) has stopped being ultra-offensive since the 90's.

it's literally all about the context. if i said "listen monday get to the back of the bus" that would without a doubt be tribal. but if i said "how are you doing brother? okay?" then that wouldn't be tribal at all.

you're grasping at straws here, and it's really obvious.
ok but have you ever been called that word in an actual tribal context? you are completely detached from the connotation that using that word gives off, so you feel comfortable enough using it. little did you know apparently, that's pretty loving tribal.

Yeah, no???

The use of the word monday by pretty much anyone other than blacks is considered an offense.

No it doesn't mean you go to lynch mobs and hate black people it just means you show an ignorance as to the coining of the word.

You guys are literally trying to associate a slur with a common word for kinship knowing damn well that's not how this particular word works.

the n word is term that was created to be offensive. No one should use it, regardless of their race.

Confirmed for living under a rock.

This is roughly equivalent to saying that people shouldn't swear. That is, stupid.

GTA is a fun game.
's ok

uh yeah? i can't believe i have to say this but where i live (read - in the middle of new york loving city) i've talked to black people and when you're not using it in a blatantly offensive manner they're okay with it. i've had a conversation with a person who actually dislikes it when somebody says the word "brother" in front of them to refer to a friend, and that person later acts sorry, like he offended someone. it's just patronizing and weird to act like you're offending somebody with a non-tribal use of the word.

anyways it's been adopted in equal strides by the hispanic, indian, middle eastern, asian, and jewish portions of our school as a brotherly term so to speak so it may just be obtained speech.

Confirmed for living under a rock.
So what you're saying is monday has been assimilated into the common language?
Like do you literally have adults calling each other mondays casually?
Maybe it sounds like some commonplace thing where you live but it's actually not a thing you'd generally say.

yes

asians call their friends brothers, pakistani kids call their friends brothers, jewish kids call their friends brothers. black kids call their friends brothers. it is definitely a thing people use.

again, if they're ok with it that's fine because they're the ones that would be affected by that word. people that wouldnt be affected by that have no right to decide when it is and isnt offensive.

yeah but im pretty sure the reasoning is that if black people are comfortable enough to "reclaim" the word, because they arent using it to be tribal towards themselves i assume, it's fine.

listen man you gotta drop this edgy attitude you sound like forgetin dark pit.

Yeah that was a little too much stupid for today.

in your area maybe. Where i live, its not an okay word to use, ever.

Yes.
Where I live, what, you mean, modern society?

listen man you gotta drop this edgy attitude you sound like forgetin dark pit.
Hey, genius, just because someone doesn't agree with you? Yeah, that doesn't mean they're "edgy." You're the weird one here.
Try again.

Where do you live, Detroit or something?
More importantly, how am I supposed to take you seriously on this?

I don't hear adults calling each other "cunts" casually, but the word is certainly common language.
And people are free to use it as they see fit. Hence some people use solely to cause offence, and some use it as a joke or a term of endearment.

The English Language belongs to everyone. No individual, or group of people, gets to own a word and police who uses it.
And by the way, you're free to take offence (even on behalf of someone who isn't here and isn't currently taking offence), but everyone is still free to cause offence.

again, if they're ok with it that's fine because they're the ones that would be affected by that word. people that wouldnt be affected by that have no right to decide when it is and isnt offensive.
So you're not affected by the word, but you're telling ZombiLoin when it is or isn't offensive???

lol
that's an idiotic point and conclusion

honestly I don't see anyone that I know of being offended by that word, yes even my black friends.
they call each other that all the time and it doesn't phase any of them.

Liked how this went from a heated argument on women to the use of the n word.
tis great.

Such is the power of misplaced oversensitivity.
