That's a pound symbol...

yeah yeah yeah ok
but a million dollars in less than a day is still absurd. hopefully it'll be good

It's a floodgate effect

People have been waiting for this for 15 years

you're using an outdated chart, £1,462,262.5 = $1,637,734

I used google, and as Electrk said:

what if people cared about cancer research, or feeding the hungry, or anything else important, as much as they care about video games. that would really be something
Because it's not money that fixes the problem. Money only works if you have the manpower, time, physical resources and a well thought out solution to those problems.

Money isn't going to make cancer research any faster, nor would it help the poor unless we pooled together billions towards making new jobs for them.

what do you think the money is for
- Manpower requires having people who actually want to work for whatever organisation and have the necessary skills to perform the tasks necessary. In terms of diseases, that requires people who are qualified in specific scientific fields, or it requires engineers capable of creating any new tech necessary to study the problem and create a solution. People in those fields aren't in abundance.
- Time can't be bought.
- Physical Resources are not always available with money. Asking for technology we don't have which is out of reach or for very rare materials can't be done on money alone.
