the awful compression that is applied to uploads, i don't know how the forget people think that's acceptable for an image hosting service lol
not to mention their garbage "gifv" thing that's just an MP4 and makes working with gifs people send me a moderate nuisance

Gifv is actually gifs converted to webm to save bandwidth. It's really quite handy actually and the benefits are real. 4-8x less bandwidth at the same quality, for one. That means fast loading and saved money on bandwidth. Of course, it's optional and they still host the original gif, so there's really no reason to complain.

there's tumblr, but you have to do a whole bunch of stuff to host pics, and even then it's not very workable

not to mention imgur's "compression" is not noticeable at all and the .gifv stuff loads faster and is less intensive.

Puush files are deleted after a month of no traffic on them. There is almost no chance of that being an issue for anyone, I still have files uploaded from like a year ago.

Imageshack is terrible, I don't think I've even heard anything about it in years.

I've never used it long enough to really notice any issues, pretty much only when pomf is under maintenance.
I don't see how imgur is any more convenient than any other decent service.

You know it's in the webm format because if you right click on it and click "Copy video URL" the result is http://i.imgur.com/cXDv12M.webm

That's a 15x size reduction and almost nonexistent visual quality impact.

Puush, except it's an unstable piece of garbage that runs into some sort of trouble every few days.
I still use it for showing screengrabs to friends but I wouldn't trust that crap with anything I wanted to stay up.
