i'm a computer, stop all the illegal build downloading
YOU WOULDN'T DOWNLOAD A CAR BUILD

What I've come to realize over the past 7 years when it comes to build stealing, is that it simply doesn't matter. People don't go to servers for the build, though it does help to keep players on the server. Server notoriety, game mode being hosted, and a positive server atmosphere is what attracts people.

When I host, I don't care if people save, because I know that even with my build they cannot replicate my administration teams, the atmosphere my server has, or the gameplay, because it differs from server to server.

Learn to let go. If people want to save your work and claim it as their own, let it be. YOU know it's yours, and that should be the most important aspect.

That said if you really can't handle people stealing builds, use events to hide your credits in hidden bricks. Emphasis on the plural, mind you. For example-
Code: [Select]
[2500] onActivate Client bottomPrint [<font:calibri:20><color:ffffff>Build by AdinX - BLID 10832] [2]Place that event in a good 10-50 bricks on any save you host, and I guarantee no matter how hard the thief tries, they won't find every event, not unless they want to save without events and risk losing events on other bricks.
Also, for those curious, the 2.5 second delay is in case a thief spam clicks bricks looking for hidden credits. They'll click as fast as they want but if they're moving around a lot, they'll lose that brick. Little do they know there's another 49 to go after the 1. The best way to hide credit events is to space out the locations as much as possible, and to occasionally change out the "onActivate" with something else (onProjectileHit, onPlayerTouch, onRelay, etc.)

i would love to see the face of someone who had to put up with this lol

Or, you know, you can just open the save in notepad and use the search function to find all the credits locations?
There's no way to stop people from claiming your build is theirs. There will forever be starfishs who do things to piss other people off, you just gotta deal and try to make them look like the fools they are by providing proof.

I would just lets this one slide... But a build someone stole from me had loads more players than I did, and they all believed HIM that it was his.

stop all the downloadin'!

stop all the downloadin'!

i'll be sure to ban the build stealing from my server.

It's like hide-and-seek, but better

The entirety of your post is under the assumption that whomever steals said build is intelligent enough to know how to use console, which in the case that it's just saving someone else's work... I don't see that as likely. I've only ever saved a build to study the build style privately for my own personal improvement. People who steal another build, claim it as their own work and then host it more than likely are too ignorant/lazy to go through and remove evented credits from that many bricks.

But I'm sure if y'know, Glass or Ravencroft or Pecon7 wanted to steal a build and remove all credit, they could easily do that. But they don't have to considering each has their own build teams...

that's an incredibly dumb mindset to have when it comes to securing one's work

Dafuq? Any teenager whose used a computer for any reasonable amount of time can easily do what I said. What are you rambling on about, that people who steal builds aren't smart? That's like saying people who commit regular crimes aren't smart. Sure a lot of them arent, but some are loving masterminds.

Kish once again getting pissy other people's opinions, what else is new?

The people I've met that know how to use console, don't steal builds.
The people I've met that steal builds, don't know how to use console.

Please name ONE "mastermind" build stealer, cause from my own experience with the 500-2k currently active players, a good 70% of them don't even know what console is.
If you're argument was that forum users know how to use console, I'd whole-heartedly agree. But we're talking about the in-game community, which tends to be pretty simple.

Hi, I'm 19 and I don't know how to locate events via console because I don't need to know how. I can use console for administrative purposes, mounting objects, modifying vehicles, and other goofy stuff like that however. I've been using computers since I was 4, and my dad has taught me just about everything I know about computer hardware/software. 15 years of computers later, and I still don't care to know how to use console to locate events.

I'm not particularly stating that people who steal builds aren't smart, though that tends to be a big contributing factor. More-so that they're lazy or unskilled, so the likelihood of them instead knowing how to use console or having the willpower to do so, rather than make their own build, is pretty small.

I'm sure there's a person SOMEWHERE who steals builds and then uses console to go through and completely eradicate credits on the hundreds of builds that they steal. But I haven't met them, and you probably haven't either, so I stand by my previous statement that a majority of people aren't going to use console to clear out build credits.

no edit, fixed

god i love watching people fight like dogs over a stuff-tier bone

this is a serious issue indeed.

how much money are you out of, being victim of this injustice and all.
