Author Topic: Stop the build stealing!  (Read 8123 times)

I suck ass at building and I don't know anyone who is willing to build for me. I know how to use notepad. Boom. It's really not that rare.

I stole a virtual amount of blocks interlinked together once. I got yelled at over the internet. Now I cry in the corner every day.

Why can't someone just make a simple mod that prevents non-admins from using the save button altogether?

Why can't people just get the forget over the fact people can save their bricks?

This, and also hide your credits in your map, or post about your map in the gallery section.

there's no real compensation for building anything in blockland aside from merit; badspot isn't paying Sylvanor to make seattle. and as someone who's had their stuff stolen before, it doesn't feel great. i spent a couple of weeks building that, and the only real pay i get for it is admiration, so when someone takes it as their own they get all that credit. i think it's silly to discount build stealing as something that just happens, cus no matter how innocuous it is it still feels a lil crappy.

that being said, you're only losing a tiny bit of admiration, and if you post your builds in the gallery a lot, you'll not only be more well known as the original builder but also the chances of your build being spotted and someone getting called out for it increase a lot. so it's a very minor issue, i think making scripts and such to protect your build is overkill. i always put a hidden part of the build that has a lil shrine with my name on it and some people who helped me, i think that's enough,

Badspot said that saving is here to stay and that he doesn't you to do gay stuff to break his game like removing the save function or breaking it.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe I've seen Badspot say that removing the save function is a key-revocable offense, mostly since it would require you to modify the game's core mechanics.

before any of you get any ideas.

that seems plausible i think

I just wish it would at least save the brick ownership, and maybe the only way to checkout a build off someone else's server is to load it with auto credits text when you join. I it does save the brick ownership at your command but what build stealer would do that!?

no one wants my stuffty builds lol
