The lines are already just barely above the asphalt.  There wouldn't be any visual difference.
Oh i see, i did not know that, excuse me. :)

Hah, it's cool. It isn't evident from the pictures, and I don't think I ever explained that I did that.  It would look better very up close had I put the colored part inside the asphalt, but that would unnecessarily increase the quad-count, and it's hardly noticeable.

Bump so the thread doesn't die.  Sorry, work hit me hard this week.  I haven't gotten anything done on this since the last post.  Also, I'm going with the poll results as they are now, which would indicate to keep the roads as they are now.

This project abandoned?

This project abandoned?

Hell no.

I've been busy with taking a month-long aerodynamics and aircraft design club entrance exam and work.  I began working on the new format for the bricks today, and I estimate that I can cut the number of bricks in the pack by a half and the number of poly's in-game even more than that.  Most of my work will be done on the weekends now that I have work every day, but I will still make a lot of progress.

Sorry for the long delay.

[edit]

Also, with the new system, both the pavement and the lines are recolorable, so win-win for the previous poll.

Lines now
(Not shown by accident, 2x straight and curved lines)

I can get some examples up sometime soon.

Some examples

Made some quick lane reduction/expansion lines

That's really nice

Thanks

I'll get working on the intersection lines pack later today.

I'm having some trouble deciding on how to proceed with an issue I have encountered.  The lines can either be paintable/hammerable after placing them, or lines can be overlapped to create more realistic patterns.  Going with the former, there would be some configurations of lines that would be impossible to create and would be frustrating to get to work.  Going with the latter, planning would have to be done before-hand to get the correct lines set up, otherwise the surface that the lines are on would have to be deleted and the builder would have to start over - but, this would allow for an infinite number of line configurations to create the different patterns.

I'd like to see what yall think so vote in the poll.

Sidewalks maybe?

I'll be looking into things like sidewalks and curbs for later, but for now I'm sticking to the road surface.

Well stuff, poll is too close to decide strictly on that.  I'll have to get some beta testers in to help me decide.

I'd be glad to test.
