killing children seems like more of a moral issue than a logical one lol

do i care? no. i think that, from a design perspective, a game should follow its own rules. if you want to implement some kind of morality system into your game that's fine, but it shouldn't close off gameplay opportunities. just my Thoughts and Opinions. i'm not going to avoid buying a game because i can't slaughter children, but i think it gives a weird incongruity to disallow it
I'm saying, since it's an M-rated game, it would logically make sense that parents would not let their kids play it if you could kill children or whatever. It is just not realistic. Therefore, the gap between reason and reality widens.

I heard one guy who said that Fallout shouldn't allow killable videogame children or have any loveual themes because what if his children or other children in the world are exposed to this?

Well, why are these kids playing these M rated games in the first place? It's rated mature for a reason. That doesn't mean that M rated games should now try to appeal to 12 year olds now.

That's what I'm saying. It would make logical sense, yes. But in reality, it does not matter what you rate your game, as long as some people find it offensive, those people will have an outcry. It's the sad truth.

First person mod was officially patched into GTA. In first person the graphic violence in GTA 5 just seems more brutal. Also when you go to have love with prostitutes in first person the game starts to look like it should be rated AO but it's still rated M.

That's how Fallout and GTA should be. Borderline M/AO rated. It should be just enough to not get an AO rating.

M rated games are meant to push the boundaries not cater to children.

i don't think the focus is on parents letting their kids play, cus they were certainly expecting an M rating, i think it was just a general moral choice by the developers. or maybe there are some kind of regulations that forbid it in some major region. in any case i don't think it's really solid grounds to make some kind of world-going-mad argument

regulations that forbid it in some major region.

Nothing forbids it in america.

If anything it would just get banned in germany and australia.

In which case they should just censor it for the countries that will ban the game but leave it uncensored for the countries that will support it.

The only stuff you'll get in America is whiny soccer moms and SJW who never intended to buy the game in the first place so those two groups boycotting your game won't affect sales in the first place.

For example did you know feminists like Anita Sarkeesian actually ended up pausing or completely stopping videogame development because the developer was afraid he would piss off some feminists?

Who cares?

If the average demographic is males buying your game, a small minority of females who also happen to be feminists are so insignificant that it won't affect sales.

You're letting the SJW armed with only a blog and their opinions win.

may not have even been sales or regulations. could just be that bethesda really didn't want to give players the ability to kill children. hard to tell. maybe the answer is floating around out there somewhere

Maybe Bethesda should have seriously bought a different IP then. The original fallout games have been known to kill children and even made quests/perks/events around it.

yeah maybe it would be because the transition to 3D would have made stuff like that a lot more graphic and involved but a change of ownership would defo change priorities like that too. whatever. i'm not personally too upset about the whole thing cus there's not much of a gameplay advantage in killing children. i can defo understand it feeling weird to be arbitrarily barred from doing something in a game that's otherwise so open

Planting explosives on a 5 year old and watch his head fly into the air and then land on the ground in a puddle of blood was pretty damn graphic back then.

Or how about shooting him with a high powered handgun and his entire arm and stomach portions fly off.

Opinions on graphics hasn't changed back then.

In the 90s when people saw the graphics of Fallout 2 they thought it was as crisp and clear as our videogames today. Back then games like that were considered HD.

okay this is definitely trolling

stuff that doesn't agree with your opinion is not trolling. I'm free to speak my opinion.

There's a certain point when the "it's just my opinion" excuse is no longer valid;
And you've definitely passed it.
Edit: also seriously, why do you double-post
