well love and gender are distinct in p much any scenario where they aren't being loosely used interchangeably

whatever gender does mean in relation to love is debatable, but gender is typically the social perception of either what it means to be male/female or how one aligns in relation to masculinity and femininity, depending on the context. in this case the latter is better-fitting and one would assume that gender neutral means a fairly neutral standing between masculinity and femininity, though i'm sure some would argue that creating a kind of scale with those extremes is a bit unsafe

I don't really understand the concept of 'gender-neutral'/'agendered'/'non-binary', etc. It confuses me how someone can identify as something which doesn't have any kind of set characteristics or definition. I suppose I understand how people would rather stay well in between feminine and masculine, but that doesn't explain 'agender' to me.

Regardless, I choose to respect the way that they like to be called, and I don't let my own lack of understanding pass judgement upon them. It's really the only way to win, since there's no way I can personally tell how they feel.

My personal beef is with people who become very vocal and aggressive when someone unintentionally uses the wrong pronoun.
