Author Topic: Reddit banned some subreddits & pissed off hundreds of thousands of people  (Read 14806 times)

but thats post ban. that isn't why they were banned.
you got me. here's some proof from alternative
I remember this one from a few weeks ago http://www.reddit.com/r/GrandTheftAutoV/comments/35rp8l/a_message_regarding_a_current_rfatpeoplehate/
it's hard to find any more sources because the site is on fire now.

as you can see, free speech is taken VERY seriously these days.

our forefathers died for this right!

alright, they brigaded. whoops.

Still doesn't explain why they didn't ban other subreddits that did.

I never understood that forum's hipster logic. They got sections dedicated to necrophilia, gore, and a bunch of special interestes that should be illegal, but fat shaming a crime far worse than some dudes jacking of to a dead corpse?

These are also the same hipsters who will bow down Edward Snowden and Julian Assange and cheer about free speech, yet they'll ban people for talking about something like gamergate.

so the brigading hate-speech group who encouraged imgur devs to be attacked was removed

and apparently this is gonna destroy the first amendment

apparently it was for brigading. so the special interestes can stay as long as they don't venture into to brigading or making people act upon them.

its pretty much "just don't bother others, okay?" but they only enforce the rule with people they dislike.

because r/stuffredditsays and r/subreddit drama doesn't post pictures of r/fatpeoplehate mods in the sidebar and encourage harassment.

Okay so I found out where those pictures they got were from.

Click on the "Meet the team" tab.

They literally just took the pictures from the meet the team page and put it onto the sidebar. That's it.

... condoning harassment of the imgur staff in response to r/fph images being removed from imgur's front page. there's literally no other reason to put the image on the sidebar.

not to mention the "dog is fat too" little quip they edited in.

you did make it sound like it was hard to find, and that it was for no reason.

and the dog thing is obviously a joke lol

they still brigade though.

the admins even admitted this.

yeah, on a personal basis. but the subreddit as a whole is not dedicated, and does not condone, brigading. fatpeoplehate did (and does.)

From what I can see it was meant to poke fun, not to endorse serious harassment. A little hint of that is indeed that quip. The dog is quite clearly not fat, infact it doesn't look like any of them are all that obese. Yeah sure they'd be upset about it but if they really wanted to harass them I would think they would post something a bit harsher than a meet the team page with a clearly satirical jab at one of their dogs.

the subreddit was not dedicated to it at all lol.

sure it was dedicated to literally insulting fat people, but it wasn't created as a mobile fat people hating brigade.
It did brigade, but that wasn't the point of the subreddit.

srs literally posts reddit posts, logically this will lead to brigading. they still brigaded, they still need to get banned. it is that simple, you cant have these kinds of exceptions.

like i mentioned in my original post, the image on the sidebar is just a hint of what happened. you should've seen the subreddit's front page. it was loving awful.

do you know what no participation means? it means that getting linked to that post prohibits you from voting on it. the subreddit has measures in place to prevent brigading as much as it can.

besides, do you have any recent proof of srs condoning or even (doing?) brigading at all?

step 2: delete all meme-related subreddits
step 3: delete reddit
