Will Steam games still be compatible?

Will Steam games still be compatible?
yes
Will I lose anything if I upgrade to win10?

Software, files, etc
depends on their compatibility
Linux user. Probably not joking. no offense
he is, pretty sure he ran arch
I didn't say anything about Windows 7. I said something about Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
I wouldn't call windows 8 and 8.1 a different product, they're both 8

That isn't what I meant

I used the technical preview for about a week in June.

Get It. It's a great OS.

Microsoft: Sorry our last two products were so stuffty; take this one for free as compensation!
I'm betting on their thinking being that if they give everyone Windows 10, which makes integrating all their Windows products to work together easy, everyone will buy more of their products

I didn't say anything about Windows 7. I said something about Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
Except 8.1 is really good.

8 and 8.1 are the same base, different versions.

I will be getting 8.1 for my new compy, just so I can upgrade to 10.

Windows 8.1 is the ninth release of Windows, which is why this version is called Windows 10. It was not a service pack to 8.1, it was a complete upgrade to a new version. It's name was simply stylized to 8.1 to prevent people from thinking they had to buy a new version.

Regardless, my statement said that the previous 2 products released by Windows (with the context being Operating Systems), and 8 and 8.1 are two different products under two different names. My point stands.

imo 8 and 8.1 weren't that bad

just they were made more for tablets, but then everyone jumped on the bandwagon

linux isn't bad, just annoying from time to time - not everyone likes to use the terminal (in which I know how but still prefer windows)

osx bugs me the most mainly just because it's so shut down compared to the rest

You can get windows 10 now? Haven't heard anything about it since it was announced months ago

Yeah, thankfully microsoft realized that in Windows 10 and made a desktop and tablet mode separately that you switch to easily instead trying to mush a desktop and tablet ui together like they did in Windows 8.

No not yet, it'll be coming later this summer though and if you want there is a technical preview.

oh hey, didn't know that

that's cool

like I said though, I never really minded it - the only thing that slightly bothered me was the start screen - but other than that, there was really nothing to complain about. imo, I liked it better than 7 due to the nice looking UI and better organization (7 kinda looked ugly to me) so y'know, I liked it, but that's just my opinion.

Why the hell do people keep saying 8 and 8.1 where bad?
I got along with it just fine, what is so painful about relearning a few things, one of my favorite things about it is being able to download tablet apps on pc instead of having to own a damn tablet.

Let me answer some pre-existing possible questions:

Q:Start menu is gone
A:Its still there, its called the start screen and you do not have to choose between 2 environments you can use both.

Q:In 8 can you only use the Metro interface?
A:There is still a desktop.

Q:I heard on 8 you could only get apps from the store, is that true?
A: No you do not have to get everything through the store.

Q:Is it true in windows 8 apps replace programs?
A:Apps do not replace Win32 applications.

Q:Thats the start SCREEN not the start menu!
A:If you really need a start menu, now you can choose any type of start menu you want(I use start is back)

And if your going to start bashing the lack of aero, let me assure you there is still themes, and many apps that get you aero again.
8 and 8.1 where only "bad" because people kept spreading rumors, and following a stupid philosophy that one version of windows is good and one is bad, may I remind you guys that vista was bad when it came out but then SP2 came out and fixed everything!?
Not to mention 7 was basically just SP3 with a rename and they redid a large amount of things to get away from the negativity the vista name had.

Holly forget again with this, I have a copy of the latest windows 10 build and its still the same, all tablet mode does is disable the desktop and make your start fullscreen, but you can still use fullscreen start in desktop mode.
