It is confirmed to be genuine.

now that i think about it, it probably is real, i mean, just look at that plastic yellowing in the front. that's a sure sign of old.

I've heard the story, but I never thought I would actually lay my eyes on it.

Looks like a piece of crap.

i mean i could piss on anything and call it old then, right? also, i could swear i have seen this before when i was younger. i don't know how, but it looks familiar.

I find how close these two comments are to be hilarious.

Watch as Nintendo hires someone to destroy it.

the yellowing comes from too much exposure to sunlight over long periods of time. the type of plastic was probably abs, which is well known for turning yellow and becoming very weak. the snes used abs plastic and guess what happened to some people?

hell, it even happened to mine, albeit not as bad

The yellowing on the plastic comes from the exposure it gets over time. It happens to older computers too giving them that signature yellowish look when in reality it used to be pure white/grey. IIRC super nintendos' 1993 and after started using a different kind of plastic which didn't get discolored as easily if not at all. I own an NES which is discolored pretty badly, but my snes still looks as good as new.

lmao its a prototype, what did you expect

Im not saying anything but...
There are atleast 5  :cookieMonster:
there were supposedly 200. as far as we know, all of them except this one have been destroyed

i believe the system says "sony playstation" because it was probably branded with that name after Nintendo cut ties with Sony. the playstation was going to be an snes compatible cartridge/cd console. the main disagreement between Sony and Nintendo was who retained control of the licensing. Nintendo gave Sony full development and control of the SNES-CD disc format, thus giving sony a lot of control over software licensing. when it came down to it, Nintendo didn't like the deal, which is why they hooked up with Phillips and announced they would be working with Phillips to produce an SNES disc based addon. they announced this some time after Sony had already announced the playstation the same day. Nintendo's agreement with Phillips eventually spawned the Phillips CDi, and Sony moved on to work alone on a new console for the next console generation.
this is probably just a prototype to try to figure out what they could do with a new console. controller ports, different buttons, the volume slider seen in this prototype, the shape of the system, the disc drive, etc. they wouldn't have known what to do about the controller just yet, so they used a sony-branded SNES controller as a filler.
just a guess. here's a good video that goes over the entire situation in detail.

nintendo then worked with phillips, and you all know how that went
Well excuse me princess
