Or you can just disable death sounds, and animations if it really bothers you so much. You're asking for a lot of unnecessary work to replace an already perfectly functional system.
We are trying to make it as realistic as possible
We dont want people to drop dead by a simple airsoft bullet.

Taboo has a point, maybe we can make our own player type where the "death" animation is of the player puting his hands up and then fading away?

Ehh, maybe

then you're going to have to find someone really invested in this to do so much unnecessary work, bud

No your right, maybe we are looking at this in a unnecessarily complicated way. What do you suggest we do to solve the "death" and re-spawn thing here?

Looking at OP/earlier posts, it's more a case of getting a gun that disables/removes a players weapons so they have to return to base to get back into the fight.
I don't see whats so complicated about that, and as a mechanic it sounds interesting.

as a mechanic it's exactly the same as respawning

But its the way you respawn that is so interesting. have you played Airsoft before?

what's interesting about walking back home

Because its unique to the game. In Airsoft, it doesnt matter if your a mile from your respawn, if you are shot, you call your hit and walk back to the respawn point.

With gameplay like this, players will want to play carefully, making it a fun and tactical experience.

"uniqueness" does not automatically make something interesting, let alone something players will like
that's not how game design works

so you just scale the respawn time by distance from their spawn

In a lot of cases you are wrong. The battlefield series (Bad company 1 through Battlefield 4) has Bullet drop and travel time. When competing with COD, this a feature that a lot of people at first thought would not be very fun to have. But it was unique to battlefield and the fan base appreciates the fact that this is one of the features that really separates Battlefield from COD, and after playing Battlefield these players love the travel time and drop, since it makes sniper kills and long ranged kills, that much more satisfying

The same can be applied to the Airsoft thing here. Sure Walking back to deployment as a respawn may not sound satisfying, but its a unique characteristic that could be well accepted because its not the same run-gun- and respawn aspect that almost all TDMs on Blockland have. Even though you may not like the idea, doesn't mean that everyone else will not like it either.

Give it an honest shot.

i know nothing about how addons work on BL but couldnt you just take an existing gun and change the sound and damage it does?
its always good to start fresh but why dont you pitch that first to see if its any good before going all out?

Ive already done this to test sounds, as of right now we are waiting for a mod team to finish up an Unturned weapon pack, then they will help us get this going, they know what there doing.
