come clean and ask him for advice that doesn't involve going back to your abusive-ass uncle
oh yeah, withholding the bad bits would be best
for the sake of self-preservation
Tell him the truth, but make is more sad and show him the old photo of our mom
also keep out all the illegal stuff
You manage to work up the waterworks and start sobbing. You tell him about your mother dying, your father that you've never met, and your uncle neglecting and abusing you. You tell him about how unhelpful the cops in Boston were, roaming the streets scrounging for food, and having to sleep in dumpsters.
The cop is very understanding and says that he will do anything to help you out so long as it's legal and not against his line of work. He asks for your uncle's name so that he can contact the Boston authorities but he promises that your whereabouts won't be revealed to him. He disappears from the room for a while.
When he returns, he has a very disturbed look on his face.
"Kid, your uncle has been unable to be located for two days now. Local Boston authorities tried to get into contact with him the morning after you fled from their police department, but he wasn't answering his home phone and they decided to send an officer to find him. When they got there, his house was missing clothing, food, some small funiture, and his weapons safe had been wiped clean. No one knows where he is now."
The officer arranges for you to stay at the precinct while they figure out what to do with you. Normally, they would have the guardian pay fines to bail you but clearly that isn't an option.
