it's interesting how we manage to live in a strictly right handed society. pretty much everything is made for someone who's right handed. even the way you write is more fit for a right handed person- i mean come on if you write an essay with your left hand you're bound to have a bunch of smear marks on it because you can't help it. drawings i make when i'm doing traditional drawing forget up sometimes because of the fact that i got smear marks all over it. i could go on for days about everything that's more beneficial to right handed people but that's not really what this is about.
as ridiculous as it sounds it was probably for the better of the club, as if pie crust went up against a right handed person, the swords would be parallel as said previously. you wouldn't really be able to fence unless one or the other person switched hands, which would obviously not be optimal (unless you're ambidextrous) for the person who had to switch hands. the person fencing with their normal hand would have a clear advantage, and would most likely be the victor because of said advantage. i'll agree that's it's a pretty stupid reason but when you think about it from that kind of standpoint, it would make some sense.
