Was a pretty fun game but got slightly bored after 20 hours. It's a bit repetitive, the creativity is great, but the teams are usually filled with morons and the simple TDM style gets boring after a while. That's probably why I prefer open world games.

the tdm style was swapped out for a "moba style" type (towers and base)

You could try Dirty Bomb, sure it has a few quirks here there as a free to play game, but it is frequently updated and changed to accommodate to these issues that arise during use by other players.  It has quickly become one of my favorite FPS style games to play as it is like TF2 but with more variety to character and weapon choices.
