Author Topic: Soft shadows that won't lag you to death (or well, not nearly as much)  (Read 18588 times)

Only problem is shadows aren't drawn from the very base of objects, but it's better than having lines everywhere.

You can fix this by adjusting the numbers near the top of the file yourself to be as low as possible (before artifacts appear). The higher it is the more disconnected shadows will be, and the lower it is the more of the "lines everywhere" effect appears. The "correct values" vary by GPU and shader quality.

I replace the old frag with the new one but the shaders stay the same. Why, I did set the shaders to max from settings.

i get a bunch of lines, but otherwise, this is amazing port

Would it be possible to have dynamic fudgefactor values based on the sun elevation to fix this?

This is fantastic. I just replaced soft shaders with these in the shader switcher add-on.

I am pretty sure this will make my 640 GT cook eggs. I really need to buy a 7xx/9xx card, the 730 is more than 2x better than what i have i think. But textures seem to be better on 640. Does not really matter when the other things outweight and make this worthless to know.

So now you've made these which are amazing. Would it be possible to create a shader that runs better than default, even if it doesn't quite look as good?

Yes. You could get rid of lights, shadows, glow effects, surface shading, etc.
Isn't that just a more extreme version of the Minimum setting though?

I set your file in the shaders folder, but my launcher replaces it every time with the original as I start blockland. Help?

Oops. I meant shadows, not shaders.

I don't think anyone's going to help us :(
