here is a game about looking for players who are hiding
hey, some guy found an exploit that allows you to find out where other players are hiding instantly
the meta has evolved into the game not even pretending to be played
Not instantly, he has to be able to actually touch them. I don't see how it's any different from just shooting them or whatever.

The game the gamemode is based off, if you touch them they will move in an odd way, and if you look directly at them you will see a name. I assumed it was on purpose, unless honno/zapk have never actually played prop hunt.

even though i think what cavik did wasnt wrong hes still handicapped

No, just from previous encounters I'm actually glad to an extent that he was "harassed". It fuels the flame in my evil heart.

The last bit was a joke.

Just a creative use of game mechanics, if you don't want people doing it then either post a rule or fix it

I'm actually very impressed that someone finally doesn't have to have some sort of ego and actually accepts his mistakes instead of making excuses, good job on that Cavik, we need more people like you.

OT: The OP thought the exploit was a part of the game mechanics as to how you find props because that is how it is in the GMOD gamemode, and clearly thought it was done intentionally. I see why he got so ticked off, but he definitely got way more mad about it than he should have, and that was uncalled for; but the fact that he was permanently banned seemed a bit too much in my opinion, even though I don't host as often anymore, I used to only permanently ban if the person clearly was a troll or just stupid and wouldn't learn from their mistakes, however OP has proven that he knows he was somewhat in the wrong here, so I say unban him and see how it goes.

Yes, that was bad wording. Scroll up.I suppose this wording makes a bit more sense.

This is the same as babies complaining about wavedashing or air strafing or any other "exploit" that has become part of a game's meta.
The thing is a game doesn't have rules except what's part of the game. Games don't have a governing body.

But a server (particularly, one with a mod gamemode) has rules set by the game AS WELL AS the rules set by the server operator. Servers have a governing body. It's not exactly cheating in that you're injecting some dll or something, but it's an exploit that the server operator doesn't want you to use because it ruins the game. The mod creator has clearly done everything to ensure that you can't identify the player props from the normal ones. If this glitch were allowed, the server would be stuffgarbage.

I'm sure Honno or Zapk are trying to find a way to fix this bug anyway

you're not sorry, you're just saying that because they started pinning you down with evidence

Yes, but it is a good one that is extremely reasonable and can not be debunked otherwise, that's why I mentioned it in my on topic message.

zapk and honno soundboard spammed my ts3 once and it made me sad.  canadians are supposed to be perfect!

cavik this is why nobody likes you

but he just made an excuse few posts above you:
That's not an excuse, that's an explanation, and a perfectly good one at that.

im getting a contact-high from backfire
jesus christ cavik

Includes what? It's a good thing I never made up any definitions, and stated that yes, it is an exploit.
That part I misread

How is it cheating if anyone can do it?
It's cheating because it gives an unfair advantage to the seeker team, and anyone on the seeker team who knows how to do it, the hider's team obviously cannot do it and would normally have no way of balancing out the disadvantage but the bug was fixed, so now everything is good

No, apparently he didn't, and why would he have known so?
He's done stuff like this several times before, and he was quite clearly being a richard to the host, so I'm not inclined to believe him at all, especially considering that it's so easy to tell "Hey, this is really effective, hmm, maybe too effective... Better let the admins know about this to make sure it isn't a glitch!"
But instead of doing that he continued to abuse it.
He also only said it after he got called out on his actions, which makes it seem more like damage control than an honest statement.

Just giving my reasons for why I don't believe him.

I don't see how you could possibly misunderstand that.
