Author Topic: This is why I kept my views on feminism away from my family.  (Read 29971 times)

In a way, I suppose. My experiences and observations of others' experiences have led me to realize that feminism is no longer an equality movement. It is a cult of sorts.
would you say that you are using anecdotal evidence to extend individual cases where a person has appeared to misrepresent feminism into a broad statement on feminism as an entire doctrine?

I don't understand what the emphasis on "meaning" is. It's the actions and the reactions of those actions I oppose.
You're condemning "feminism", not specific individuals or actions. Feminism isn't a centralized movement and it's not particularly consistent, it can mean anything from super radical feminism to gender equality. It's more like an idea, you can't really condemn it because it covers too much ground, unless you are condemning the entire spectrum.

I don't think it makes sense to come to this conclusion simply based on your "own experiences"

Think about it. If women are already guaranteed equal protection under the law, yet you keep pushing, you push it over the line of equality. What is it called when it is past equality?
Equality doesn't just refer to law-based equality, but also social and economic equality. And no I'm not talking about the "wage gap," which I know is a bunch of hooey.

Nah nah nah nah nah. Radical feminists or not, they are still a piece of the movement. You either accept that a movement is flawed, and instead of trying to change my mind, change theirs. Fix their beliefs.
Uh, why lol. The majority of feminists believe in gender equality. So do I.
If the problem is within, don't blame the criticizers.
I can blame the criticizers because they (ie You) don't have a single loving idea of what you're talking about.
I'm saying feminists advocate for superiority without even realizing it. It sounds ridiculous on the surface, but through examples, it makes more sense.
So... all feminists are apparently too stupid to realize that their "equality" is actually making women more powerful?
If you would like to get a general idea of where I and others like myself are coming from-
Yes yes it is. You're stupid at best and malicious at worse.

This is literally some conspiracy stuff. The fact that he hasn't named any specific examples of how "wimmins are keeping the man down" just worsens his position, lol.

To add to what Ipquarx said, they aren't even legally equal necessarily. Even if you disagree with stuff like abortion/reproductive rights they're issues that pertain to women that are still contested to, particularly by the right

Of course opposition is expected of murder.
Also I'm not sure if he's equating murder to abortion here but if he is then he's plain evil, lol.

Nah nah nah nah nah. Radical harpys or not, they are still a piece of the movement. You either accept that a movement is flawed, and instead of trying to change my mind, change theirs. Fix their beliefs. If the problem is within, don't blame the criticizers. It is observable feminism. I'm not saying each harpy is a misandrist. I'm saying harpys advocate for superiority without even realizing it. It sounds ridiculous on the surface, but through examples, it makes more sense. If you would like to get a general idea of where I and others like myself are coming from, I recommend watching Vernaculis' video, "Social Justice Cry-Cis". It outlines everything pretty well. Watch the intro at least.
Feminism isn't centralized, it doesn't have a governing body. How can anyone be expected to "reform" every single batstuff radical harpy? It is no one's responsibility to "fix" anyone's beliefs, feminism encapsulates a spectrum of beliefs. You just invented this "rule" to fit your argument

Also I'm not sure if he's equating murder to abortion here but if he is then he's plain evil, lol.
You are taking the life of a human with deliberation.

The majority? How come I have never seen a feminist advocate for men's shelters? Or that either women be required to sign up for selective services to be able to vote or that it be eradicated altogether? Or how come I have never seen a feminist address the obvious bias in the courts towards women? Or anything else of that nature? When you say nothing, you say everything. I HAVE LISTED SEVERAL SPECIFIC EXAMPLES, YOU JUST CHOOSE TOO OVERLOOK THEM. I never claimed anyone was oppressing anyone. Nice strawman. You are a prime example of one of the points I am trying to argue.
Equality doesn't just refer to law-based equality, but also social and economic equality.
Except that also includes men, which feminists forget, ruling out any possibility of equality under feminism.

I told you, it was my experiences and my OBSERVATIONS. Feminism is not a centralized movement, no. That does not mean it is still not toxic. I have dealt with many types of feminism, each producing similar results. I'm condemning the spectrum as a whole because each part is individually condemned, one by one.
Yes, but this is based off of your experiences, which may or may not be biased due to over-exposure to a minority. Logical feminism, and what is teached in schools (trust me my history and language classes focus on gender rights) teach legitimate equality, unlike your experiences of the feminist zealots.
I came at feminism from a neutral standpoint, and ended up on this side. This is another part of feminism. Assuming that all those they disagree with are only a vast minority. These are not only my personal experiences. It is also on the news, and all over everything.

Because it isn't the radicals. The idea of feminism and its place in today's society is toxic. I can't even understand what point you're trying to convey. Let's start over.

In a way, I suppose. My experiences and observations of others' experiences have led me to realize that feminism is no longer an equality movement. It is a cult of sorts.
yeah way to generalise. just like you clearly demonstrated in your last thread about this, you're a blundering idiot.

You are taking the life of a human with deliberation.
LOL. Yep. You know you're dealing with a forgeted up person when they equate abortion with murder.

I agree, you should've kept your views on feminism away from your family. They're reprehensible.

By "the radicals", I am talking about whatever you may consider "feminism taken too far"
Unless you consider the whole movement as "feminism taken too far"

Even simply "I support the equality of genders" feminists? They are part of that spectrum. You must be a mega national socialist or something.

LOL. Yep. You know you're dealing with a forgeted up person when they equate abortion with murder.

I'm forgeted up? You're attempting to moralize it by denying the fact that it is taking another human's life. It is murder, whether or not you wish to realize it. But please, let it end there. If you want to continue on abortion, please PM me. I did want to keep my views on feminism a secret. You have not actually provided a sound argument other than baseless claims and slander. gg.

Sorry for the triple(?) post, but of course there will be opposition. Are you suggesting that women should be uncontested when they invade another person's rights themselves? Your rights end where another's begins. I do not wish to turn this into an abortion debate.

It is murder, whether or not you wish to realize it.
No, no it's not.
