Author Topic: wallpart.com is stealing everyone's artwork  (Read 3030 times)

If people don't like their stuff being stolen have they actually tried to go through official channels?
The site is behind CloudFlare, file an DMCA here: https://www.cloudflare.com/abuse/form
The site's domain is registered at tldregistrarsolutions.com, abuse reports can be sent to abuse@tldregistrarsolutions.com.

They look to be hosted in Ukraine, so US copyright law isn't going to touch them.

Wait so it's just like a printing service?
Like you upload an image you like and they print it for you?
That makes the legality a lot more...questionable at least.

There's a difference between a domain registrar and a web host. In this case you'd get better going after the latter.

Gotta get through CloudFlare first though. (lol woops I'm dumb)
Most domain registrars do not allow you put host copyrighted content on the domain while they are the registrar.

I searched "Headcrab zombie" and there was a pony among thousands of other results

also when i search my actual online names i get like 1 or 2 pics of things i've uploaded on imgur or funnyjunk

They have some photos of my desk that I took up for sale. Nice

yes, this is how it works. you can't stop the wall !!!

I found this

Quote
WallPart Respect the copyright of others.
This means we don't steal photos or images that other people share as own.
We don't have a base of images, and don't host or store images on the our servers.
Only Wallpart.com helps users to find images that interest for them, the site uses data of the most known third-party search engines.
The process of the search goes on an user's browser.
Users make search queries by themself, all content displayed in a window of the browser is received from third-party search engines.
Displayed images are loaded from third-party servers, and they aren't hosted on our site.
When the user make the order, we get the image from the user, he is responsibility for use.
Wallpart.com doesn't bear responsibility for the images received from users.[/s]

This makes sense and is what I suspected...
I'm not sure but I think this may be legal (at least within their host's country); the service they're selling is a printing and shipping service, not art service.
There's a whole ton of print shops and sites that will make prints from you from any image, those aren't illegal. The end result of using wallpart is no different from someone finding an image off google images and handing it to one of these printing services

Actually disregard that.
If you check the source of an image, it is hosted on their site.
Also, some other things, like the consistently bad English and the fact that the "Return & Refund" badge is pitifully incomplete, made me think the site is a scam...or worse, a phishing site to get your CC number.

The best solution for people trying to make actual money from selling prints of their work work is to only post scaled down images as previews, that way if someone wants a print, they have to buy from you; if you try to take the sized down version it'll look like ass unless they only make a small print
