Author Topic: Microsoft Windows 10 Devices Event  (Read 5546 times)

I am not a fan of MSFT or Apple but...

the new surface pro 4 and surface book are tight as mother forget.

Yes, seriously

The reason so many people like me don't want windows 10 is because of their "We will take your private files and give them to anyone we want for any reason" clause. I've checked, this isn't in OSX, iOS (OSX and iOS both have other privacy issues), Andriod (Which does have other privacy issues as well, but not files), or ChromeOS. Peer-pressuring people into being okay with it isn't gonna change a damn thing either.

Are people really mad that a anti virus sends viruses and suspicious files back to be looked at?

Exactly. That's what I'm so against and what apparently so many people here don't think is a problem at all.

remember, the chance of microsoft viewing your files is loving low, there's millions of users using windows 10, meaning you're a single grain of sand in millions of others
remove your tinfoil hats.

That's not how it works though. They don't need my files in the first place, I'm not a criminal and I haven't done anything wrong. On top of all that there's absolute certainty that eventually a hacker will find out how to use Microsoft's file accessing backdoor and then literally anyone is done for. I don't want them having access to it at all, period. I don't want hackers to have access to my files, period. I've explained this dozens of times before, you people should know this by heart. Would you allow a trojan horse on your computer just because it had a low chance of being actually accessed by a hacker? The answer is no, and that's my answer to Microsoft's trojan.

And stop calling it loving "tinfoiling," tinfoiling is when people make up bullstuff conspiracy theories. This is not a conspiracy theory, it's their legal stated power over anyone who uses it.

yes, that is the setting that doesn't work, I should have clarified
Worked when I toggled it.

I'm sure people have also told you this before, but both the services which send files to Microsoft can be disabled.

You can disable file testing submission in the Security settings.

If you set this value found under Privacy to Basic, then only basic telemetry is sent. No personal data whatsoever is touched. If set to Enhanced instead, it sends pieces of workable data but no full files.

You can't reasonably call it a trojan or backdoor since it doesn't actually provide any access in that direction. They are only services which send information to Microsoft servers when triggered by certain actions (Typically program crashes or performance issues).

Well, I've even tried going a bit further than that and just going straight to the advanced power settings in the control panel, but nothing has any effect.

This issue might just be because I'm using a tablet, but I've seen people complaining of the same thing with laptops/desktops on the Windows feedback app.

I'm going to try using the reset/refresh thing and see if that does anything, but I'm not hopeful.
