OP isn't entirely wrong

majority of BL servers are really low quality and/or just not fun.
i mean yeah i'm burnt out since i've been playing for almost 7 years but i really personally and wholeheartedly believe that the old blockland community has moved on

Mini-Empires

are you saying mini empires is boring
i doubt you have played one, never seen your username on a MERP

we create some p dank stuff on there, however nowadays people think we will judge them badly because most merps are naturally set for experienced players

there ARE MERP HOSTS/PLAYERS THAT WILL BE WILLING TO EDUCATE YOU, and when you do learn and develop it actually becomes kind of fun, and you can create mind-blowing things

I liked ports survival, and when maps where a thing, I liked that one survival rpg thing but it was pretty shallow.

Ports survival however, was amazing. It was like a dayz in blockland. I would pay with my life to get my hands on that mod.

The entire OP is just one gigantic call to action. Like you expect everyone to just swoop the forget in and serve a bunch of creative content to you on a silver platter because you're bored and you want us to fix it.

Has OP ever made a successful, innovative and creative server? It's not even remotely as simple as 'placing a single brick', what the forget? To start off with you have to come up with a logical idea that will keep a substantial amount of people entertained, has to be feasible within the limitations of the game and the add-ons you have available (which you also have to hunt down in many cases), has to be engaging enough to keep players interested for a workable amount of time, has to be easy to understand, generally has to live up to a certain expectation of building capability (a decent quality server can take up to several weeks to build, even with a team of builders), has to be balanced and fair to all players, has to be maintained with a comprehensive administration team, has to be run on what is usually a dedicated server which has enough computing capacity to deal with large amounts of players, has to be interesting enough for a small group of players to play on before more players can join, I can go on and on and on and on and on with this. Building a good, original server from scratch is an extremely demanding commitment. You know why you keep seeing the same servers over and over? Because people stick to what they know works. Nobody wants to spend large amounts of time developing a server because some numpty is dissatisfied with the lack of creative content just to see it dwindle at the bottom of the server list. Once upon a time Jail RP and Dogfight were all "original" creative ideas. If you want some new stuff, go make some new stuff instead of whining at everyone else for not making it for you.

I spent about a month and a half of my life making a server once, it was a hide-and-seek type game that required players to hide from another player using darkness. I fought off engine limitations and went through at-least 8 experienced add-on makers trying to beg them to make add-ons for me to get this INCREDIBLY simple idea to work. You know what I got in return? Endless bitching. It didn't play exactly how some people wanted it, so all people ever did was complain about it. The entire time the server was running I never got to enjoy it because I was constantly maintaining it and trying to expand it while trying to keep it balanced. Eventually the stuff just died out because at the end of the day it just simply wasn't possible to do what I had in mind with the way Torque engine works. Hide and loving seek. Couldn't do it.

The game's been around for 10 years. If you don't see any 'original' ideas on the server list, it's because they don't work and nobody has the resources to make them. No amount of complaining on the internet is going to change that. Servers are made by teams of imaginative people with great ideas, great experience with torque script, lots of experience with building and eventing, great work ethic, lots of resources and connections, and an absolute forgetload of time and patience. Great original servers are not something that can just be stuff out by anyone whenever you get bored.

in my experience, making servers doesn't take very long, at most a week
hell i made battlemix in like 2 or 3 days
then again i am talking about really simple things like a tdm and bushido's boss battles

This thread has gotten out of hand because of me, yes I am the one to blame. For that, I am sorry. Yet, I merely addressed the fact why I mentioned that you guys will say, "how about you host your own server"?. I'm not talking about the branded brunch at the bottom of the cereal box, I'm talking about every single one, should contribute, in a way; even if it's not great.

it's almost always been like this, since i've even joined blockland

alright what's pissing me off way more then the actual idea that blockland does not have enough creative servers and that we should be doing more for your benefit is that you're trying to play it off by going full-tilt scumbag politician to help control the damage

like this thread opens with a raw moral panic and then you started slinging around loaded questions to anyone who disagrees and now you've escalated to pulling the forgetin 'come to me ye poor and disheartened and show the world what the underdog can do' card

Mini-Empires

you sayin mini empires is boring and dull? i'll have you know...

What does this even mean? Every single what should contribute in what way?

I agree with what y are saying.  To add on to your examples, what happened to the CSGO servers that were WIP, they go up one day and never come up again.  Also, I have seen countless COD :zombies servers that do the same process, the go up as WIP and we never hear from them ever again.  I was playing Crown's jail rip thingy, I get that it's modeled after the CSGO and Gary's Mod prison game, but I don't think it's all that.  First of all, I get that this topic isn't about complaining about the server.  But, under the same argument as the OP, it's really not that creative, all it is is a warden who ends up being the same person over and over again typing what to do in huge font and you have to follow their orders.  But, I think if you are going to do this, it should be like the CSGO version where you have to have a mic.  Anyway, I think blockland is loosing creativeness with the type of servers, and like you said, it's just not all that.

But, I think if you are going to do this, it should be like the CSGO version where you have to have a mic.

this isnt possible to do in blockland
