Author Topic: The best way to find a group to build with?  (Read 2878 times)

Hello fellow old person. I'll be 26 in a month, although I started playing this game 10 years ago.

Are you a member of TOG? I used to run with them and I'm sure there'd be heaps of adults within the group that would give blockland a shot.

join a server with good builders, get to know them. bam. done and done.

TOG? i've been around since V8 and can't ever recall coming across a clan by that name...

It's not a blockland clan, hence why I said "give blockland a shot"

TOG = The Older Gamers

What would you say about Wedge or Bones4 then?
cant belive they're wasting time on a kid game.....
even badspot he's like 40 or something why does he play this game huh??

Ever since RTB went down I've found it significantly harder to maintain friends on Blockland. I guess your best bet is to just play online and meet people, talk to them and befriend them via Steam. It may be awkward because most of the people who play this game are very young but you'll most likely meet mature players eventually.

Applying for a clan would probably be a good bet.

Well, that was probably the most ignorant and judgmental thing I've read all week.

You're never too old to play a game, as long as you enjoy it and have fun. Don't let someone else decide this for you.
it's not about being "too old to play a game," it's about being too old to spend time around kids you don't know on the internet
I'm sure that he, as a parent, can see what the problem is with a 31 year old guy playing a video game with many kids that are twelve and under
idk what kinda servers he's playing on, but if it's any of the popular ones, there's gonna be people in that age group. and it's freaky, even if it's completely innocent

...what the forget, this is some seriously ass-backward ageism bullstuff
seriously, do you have any reason to suspect OP of predatory behavior besides the fact that he is 30 and plays a video game? dude just wants to build and have fun on a video game he purchased. nobody asked you for your weirdly paranoid opinion.

way too old. to be here. I mean maybe I'll still be around when I'm 31? probably not. but either way, I've been since I was eleven. and it looks like you started playing within the last couple of years, at most :/
like if you were to go play club penguin or something. there are so many kids, and I can't really see a whole lot of uh... legitimate... reasons someone that age would start playing a game for kids
hopefully you're just lying about your age
There is actually a good bit of truth to this. The problem is that when people play games at a very young age, they tend to keep that habit as they grow older. I mean, one day you'll be in your thirties (hate to break it to you) and you probably wont just decide to stop playing games, especially since most people in my age bracket like to do things such as get hammered and watch football which doesn't appeal to me at all.

The real reason I made this topic was because over in the Minecraft world, it's common practice to jump into build servers by meeting people in the forums and then making arrangements to meet in game. Seems like that isn't the case here.

That's a big deal on the internet, the constant state of anonymity. He is allowed to play the game and have fun building like everyone else here, I don't think age should really matter in this case. When you're playing on the internet, everyone is on a level playing field. Things like age, gender and race matter much less. Thus, I don't think he should avoid a game just because the demographic for said game is younger.

True, but that age group has a strong presence in most popular online games. Besides, I just want to build a house with the blocks. Stop acting like I have some secret agenda.

Also, for finding people to build with I'd recommend joining a clan over in the clan section. Not only with you be with people who strive for building like you do, but you will also be pushed by other members of the clan to improve your skills and get inspiration. You can also try server hopping to random freebuilds, which does work but as people have said it can be hard to maintain a long-term group that way.

Jooin halloweenfest some time and make friends with the staff and players. C:

get rid of the complete voidness of any actual clan in the cd board and start your own clan

Edit: original assessment was unfair, there are some serious clans on the front page and they deserve to be referenced as such
