Many different kinds of people turn to Anthros as a form of expression. Not all of them share the same tastes but its mainly just a creative outlet to overall be less shy about ideas.

The loud majority of furries tend to be gay it seems. But I'm confident in saying there's plenty of other groups in the fandom.

though it seems that it's not unusual that non-furries are just as "open" about things as furries are *ahem*

It is a thread where people whom enjoy quality images of anthropomorphic (or non-anthropomorphic) animals or mythical creatures and share images that they like so that others may comment or fawn over

It's like the hot anime girls thread, except with furry/scaley/slimey anthropomorphic creatures

A lot of it is because that's what the majority of people who post there are into, and people who don't like those kinds of images refuse to post their own and just complain about seeing crotch bulges
