Author Topic: Blended Undulo  (Read 1197 times)

I've always hated how the Undulo effect always breaks apart and doesn't look smooth in most situations.

Example:

Is there a way to fix this or is it possible for someone to make something that prevents this?

a workaround is to make each undulo'd brick of the same brick

as in you'd have to do lots of tiling with plate bricks probably

I don't think it's possible because undulo animates the vertices of the brick.

yeah undulo just moves all eight corners of the bricks around and when they aren't aligned it does this

your best bet would be making sure all the vertices of the bricks are touching

You would need custom bricks that have a seperate face for every single stud or something like that. For example, if you set two different water bricks to undulo, they still align because they have a vertex every 8 studs.

It's an awkward workaround, but if you don't need it to be specifically Undulo, you can event all of the bricks to be set to WaterFX.

I found that they always line up when done like this, but the water fx isn't as 'vigorous' as the undulo effect.

it still wouldn't work unless the vertices on each brick were touching

Wouldn't it? It's simply a wave pattern, and I think that all the bricks' waves are in sync.

With shape fx, bricks do not actually bend, but their vertices move around in some wave format

for instance, here is an example with water fx, which moves the vertices up and down.
(the cyan line is the wave pattern the brick follows)

So it looks like No.
You'll have to make sure all faces match, tough stuff.

Not that simple, unless you plan on editing the FX which you cant do.

Don't they align when the bricks are all in the same direction?
Just don't turn the bricks and it should look smooth.

Rotating the brick won't rotate the wave is goes along.
