Author Topic: $15/hr for fast food workers by 2018  (Read 1863 times)

BUT for the most part (excluding students and such) the people I know who work at fast food places are extremely lazy, unmotivated, heroin addicts (not kidding) who have no desire to actually improve their current position and cry that, because they are lazy and unmotivated, arent making enough to live
Nice generalization bud

i see your point, but the thing is that if wages are raised in fast food, then it means there's going to be a labor-wage imbalance between fields and everyone will try to leave the other fields to go to fast food

and that's a problem
I'm seeing only negatives with either option sadly. It just annoys me that the people who want these wage increases more than likely don't think it through as much as they need to.

wow its almost like
thats exactly whats going to happen
but you objected to it

You don't understand the economy do you? Minimum wage is supposed to be the minimum you can live off of. Prices haven't been going up because we are not putting an excessive amount of money into circulation. If we up the wages then prices will follow. Another side affect is that people won't want to do jobs we actually need like law enforcement because they can get payed more for doing practically nothing.

15 isn't stupidly high
especially by 2018
$15/hr is more than twice the current minimum wage.
the minimum wage does need to be higher, yes, but  more than doubling it may be too much of an increase for some businesses to be able to handle

But that was just a side point and you missed the main point: why is this increase only for a couple jobs, while everyone else stays at the same low wage?

why don't we just print more money
:^)

i agree with that
it should be minimum wage not minimum wage for people flippin burgers

do you not know whats been going on for the last 5 years
prices have been going up on everything over time
you may not see it but people who are actually paying for things see it
the wage needs to go up so that people can actually afford to buy groceries every month

and by 2018, $8 will not be the minimum to live by
minimum wage NEEDS to be raised (although as Headcrab said $15 is a little too much)
and jobs like law enforcement will get higher wages to compensate

That will only make things more expensive. I'm not sure if you know how economics work or not.

perhaps true, but if wages don't go up but prices do then it's a bigger problem.

okay then dont raise the wage and allow everything to keep going up and then not be able to pay for anything
just because you raise the minimum wage does not mean bread goes from costing 3 dollars to 6 dollars instantly

Not instantly no but its only a temporary solution to a much more bigger problem.

what do you mean a much bigger problem
what are you going to forgetin completely get rid of all inflation
good luck

I get minimum wage (actually, more like 15 cents under minimum wage) because my manager caught me putting heroin needles in customers' food.

Don't get so saucy lol. I never said a word about getting rid of all inflation or even hinted at its possibility.
