Author Topic: How does Funky Shirt still exist?  (Read 2849 times)

This Funky Shirt add-on has been around since like 2007. It was even broken multiple times with every default update because it lags servers.

For a long dead add-on I still see new players using it well over ID 100,000.

The current verison of it only rotates colors every second, so as to fly under the radar of both server latency and anti-funky shirt mods.

It isn't much of a problem any more now but I admit I do find it annoying personally.

I'm rare to comment on someone's style.

Any avatar using funky shirt looks immediately awful.

Pretty sure it has been remade numerous times.
Also, it's just the sort of mildly cool thing that people (younger people in particular it seems) see and like.

People like pointless vanities, hence the numerous games with unlockable/purchasable customisations.
It's no surprise at all that people still use it.

The numerous games with unlockable/purchasable vanities usually look good.

It does not lag servers unless your server is a $10 grandma email checker.

I think it's something neat to spice up your outfit. Like a rainbow hat feather or rainbow national socialist sash other small item.

I have custom cause the default addon looks so aweful

I used to use funky shirt but it made my hand into a pirate hook hand and it turned my avatar invisible, never using it again.  Also, the colors used were bland.

I have one but it only funks my arms, feet, head and a few others so I think I have the old version

It rotates every second because that's all the update avatar serverCmd allows

It looks bad and tacky, yeah, but If you need an add-on to kick people for it you're probably the type of person who gets annoyed at everything.

Has anyone actually tested and proved a statistically significant increase in latency as a direct result of using this add-on? Or is it just "I want a valid reason to hate this"
Because I don't imagine that an avatar update once a second (or even more) is even remotely comparable in resource usage to what's needed to run the rest of the game.

You can change what parts of your body it covers in the code
