Tributary — Afternoon, Day 7

Blatsa is surprised to see the strange man, one who speaks his native language at that.  As the scene unfolds before him, he seems rather content to simply ask, "Your trophies are nice, how do you make them glow?"

The sun begins to set. Veshikk takes a long drink from the clean water and takes his cleaned hides, stomach and bladder with him to the cave along with the spear, waiting for Öln to arrive with wood for a fire and pitch or sap. In the mean time, he drapes a hide around him for warmth and begins to weave twine from the hair.

Faraji leaves the bolgil to its rest, and goes back to the edge of the swamp to keep exploring.

Öln eventually gives up on his hole, and goes to find some dry wood or perhaps a dead tree he could cut.

Still angry about the abominable roosterball salamander, he disregards the bird man and the man who can't speak in the same language as Veshikk or himself.

The man responds, "Unfortunate circumstances, I'm afraid.  There is another creature much like yourself who had just died.  In a painful manner as well.  The glow is their spirit."

Faraji leaves the bolgil to its rest, and goes back to the edge of the swamp to keep exploring.

Faraji and Loec continue southward and find that the swamp curves to the south.  Perhaps there's a lake or something nearby.

Öln eventually gives up on his hole, and goes to find some dry wood or perhaps a dead tree he could cut.

Still angry about the abominable roosterball salamander, he disregards the bird man and the man who can't speak in the same language as Veshikk or himself.

Kesakh notices that Öln walks off to chop a tree.  Meanwhile, Kesakh walks forward to Veshikk and holds out his hand.  "Hold out your hand, please."

Veshikk bares his hand slowly. He eyes Kesakh.

Kesakh drops an orange stone in Veshikk's hand.  It is radiating warmth.  "When you wish to light a fire, touch it upon the wood and say the following words 'Yzte c'tomej nidegg.'  Once you say this, draw your hand back, and the wood will ignite.  It will only work three times, though, so use it wisely."


Woops, forgot.  Öln, after some hacking, chops down a tree that is half-dead and gains 3 logs, 6 rods, and 10 sticks.

Veshikk instinctively draws his hand back, nearly dropping the stone. He looks it over with a mix of curiosity and fear after a moment. Turning it over several times, he deems it not a threat. He dips his head quickly and mumbles "Thank you" before sitting back down.

Öln slowly but surely begins to carry back 2 of the logs, along with the rods and sticks.

Veshikk instinctively draws his hand back, nearly dropping the stone. He looks it over with a mix of curiosity and fear after a moment. Turning it over several times, he deems it not a threat. He dips his head quickly and mumbles "Thank you" before sitting back down.

Kesakh then smiles and begins to walk in the direction of the forest.

Blatsa bowed his head as he heard of the others' passing.  He then turns to the man as he leaves, "Farewell to you," he said, before turning back to the other man.  He offered the porkchop to him again, "Kunsni.  Id." he said.

Veshikk shakes his head again. He points to the meat and then firmly back at Blatsa, then continues making twine until Öln returns.

Veshikk finds that the dagu hair collected is too short to make twine.  (The dagu is not a wooly creature.  You need wooly hides from bolgil, burogi, eikai, and more other animals that have yet to be discovered.)


Loec and Faraji continue along the edge of the swamp and notice glowing tyrkyev shrooms on the trees.  The forest appears to also be thinning out.

Veshikk uses the intestine to make twine instead.
