Author Topic: Has anyone played Homeworld?  (Read 559 times)

The remastered edition on Steam is 65% off and comes with the classic versions of the games. Should I pick it up? I've never played any of the games - is it easy to learn, worth the money, does it have a lot of depth to it? Is the multiplayer fun?

from what i hear: if you've played the original, the remastered is a bit of a disappointment / "downgrade"
if you haven't, no reason not to take it, it's a nice game

Yes, i'd recommend it. The graphical quality in the Homeworld 1 Remastered version is greatly improved. It looks and feels amazing.

The UI is greatly improved too. The game's had a lot of post-release balance fixes/updates that have made it much more enjoyable now. You can pit HW1 races against HW2 races in battles and it's fun.

I used to play online matches with Comr4de against the hard level AI and it was pretty fun. We did some sweet Gundam and Yamato-ish mods that totally changed the game in fun ways.

However Homeworld 2 Remastered is literally no different from Homeworld 2 classic. They didn't bother updating the model or texture quality of the ships and objects in the game, and personally that pisses me off because it's like they were too lazy to fully remaster everything.

Get it while it's on sale. It's not worth the full price IMO.

It's a great 3d rts, I recommend it to any rts player.

Homeworld is a must for the price it's currently at.

Homeworld seems nice, but Ill stick with Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
