Actually no, the weight difference would throw them off. They would be accustomed to the heavier weight and would swing a lightsaber with too much force and have to recover. Also they are 2 completely different fighting styles for a quarter staff and a lightsaber.

So Kylo Ren gets the ever loving stuff kicked out of him by a chick with no prior training... How is he a threat let alone the main villain at this point? Sure he's going to get extra training now but so is the chick. At least in episode 5 Luke gets beaten by Vader so it shows that he wasn't ready and needed training to beat the main villain. But Rens just a little whiny bitch who got BTFO the minute he went up against someone else with a lightsaber and a brain.
