I wouldn't mind some stricter background checks though.

I wouldn't mind mandatory gun safety and handling courses to be issued before anyone is allowed to buy a firearm but unfortunately that costs money

I would hate it if guns got banned, purely because I love owning guns and would be mighty pissed off if they suddenly became illegal because some crack-pot douchebag felt like gunning down some innocent people. I wouldn't mind some stricter background checks though.
This is what I mean.

Cali has the strictest gun laws in the nation. How did that help them prevent this...

Im also a bit curious why anti gun people are so pro "call the cops" whenever they need help from violence.
That is pro gun you know... Calling someone with a gun to come save you with a gun. After the violence has already happened and reached its peak. Its to late at that point. Its almost like that gun needed to be there already...

I feel as though there isn't much need to own more than a handgun

anti-gun logic

I wouldn't mind this either, I'm just curious as to how far they'll go for such checks, ie searching personal messages sent via text, fb, etc for terrorist connections or malicious intent. While a check like that may have prevented the shooters in cali from getting some of their guns and potentially prevented the shooting altogether, I feel it's infringing on more rights

As long as the people performing the background checks don't have any weird biases or anything, ex. they might not give a gun to somebody because they’re a furry.

Well what else is there to check? They already check 50states criminal history and your federal criminal history.

That would be such bullstuff. But in the end law is written by bias

I was under the impression we already did this lol

I was thinking stuff like the psych tests they do before they let you join the police.

Whatever you say mr. bad opinion man
>having opinions
nah. having an opinion is something like "orange juice is gross" or "i like half life". "every psychopath in the US has a gun and will shoot anything that moves" is not an opinion.

yeah. i'm anti-gun though. glad i live in Canada

not disagreeing with your overall point, but i think that all this police brutality is enough proof that psych tests dont really work in weeding out crazies

As one under training, even I know what a failure the psych tests are. Police shootings are a good indication of that.

beat me too it lol

Unfortunately there's no way of telling what's going on inside somebody's head. They could be planning the next (real) 9/11 and we wouldn't even know it.

haha...yeah....crazy, right?

and so logically anti-gun advocates would eventually lean to the ban-all method or other extreme measures.
