Author Topic: so why does my phone go to 2g every time I leave a city  (Read 1402 times)

so I'm stuck for a long car trip and every time I leave a city I go from 4g (not lte) to 2g GPRS not even edge

I'm on T-Mobile why is this happening? they said they had expanded their coverage to 4g lte practically everywhere in the US

because there isn't 4g/LTE coverage.

duh

another thing to add my friend had reported to me like a month ago he went on this same highway (i40) and got 4g lte but I still have 2g, he's on T-Mobile too

Maybe your phone just sucks

t-mobile is trash and has terrible coverage

ok go find me a carrier that doesn't suck and allows portable hotspotting without an insane fee in TN the carriers are the same in the entirety of TN so go wild

ok use AT&T
unless you make less than minimum wage you can afford it

no at&t stores exist in TN
+$15 a month hotspot fee
maybe that's because at&t barely has a presence at all over here while T-Mobile and cricket have dominated here.

my friend said the same thing you said about at&t except on T-Mobile I'm trying to figure out why

its not a carrier issue

maybe your phones receiver isnt as strong

i have t-mobile, and i only get 2g in rural areas. 4g or 4g lte elsewhere.

 www.t-mobile.com/coverage.html

so I entered a city so I got 4g to actually enter that

as it turns out they're using special towers for these areas (try entering interstate 40 on it and click on a lte area while not near a city) which means only newer T-Mobile phones (hint: not mine) actually get lte.

well time to buy a new phone.

what kind of phone do you have anyway
