Author Topic: Hammer Editor Thread  (Read 9873 times)

Not too sure what all to put here but here it is. Maxx doesn't want anyone else posting their work in his thread so here is a place for everyone else to show off what they can make/are working on.

Screenshot from an older project of mine. It's currently released on the workshop (along with some other maps I've released)
I started mapping again when I realized that no map on the workshop met my needs. As time passed I progressively got to the point I am now, I mainly make sandbox/ACF maps right now.

Discuss source mapping.

i have a strong passion for hammer. i wish i had pictures of my work but i never thought to document my hammer projects

i havent messed with it recently since i last lost all my projects, but id love to tap into what ever dev tools source 2 will bring

Misread as Hammereditor, who I think got revoked for using an exploit in his hosting.
This is really neat, though, glad it isn't what I first read it as

they're making a sequel??? daaamn

i mainly use hammer for editing/fixing existing maps
note: use BSPSource to decompile bsp files into editable hammer files

but i did have a map project with tf2 textures so i'll get those images eventually
the only trouble is that compiling that map into a playable map takes a VERY long time, mostly in visleaves (PortalFlow)

and i need tips to reduce that time help please

I can't get hammer to work for me any more.

Are you using the one from a source games Bin folder?

I might be?

Is that different from the old way of booting up Source SDK and launching it from there?

I'd like to know, I haven't used hammer in years and I miss it lol.

You should try again, it's super simple. (implying it opens)

i guess the question is what do you mean by "can't get hammer to work for me"
what specifically happens

I tried making a map of my school with the bombsite in the synagogue. Boy is this program hard to use.

Someone needs to post that HD textures mod cause oh god had the old HL2 ones aged badly.

By the way, this worked, surprisingly.

I don't know why it doesn't work using the launcher through Source SDK, but oh well. Now I have a viable way to make Garry's Mod maps again.
