Author Topic: Why don't storm troopers shoot bullets?  (Read 8922 times)

If storm troopers keep shooting laser guns that can easily be deflected by a light saber why don't they just switch to regular bullets which can't be deflected?

If anything it would go through the lightsaber hitting the jedi with molten lead.

Plus I'd like to mention bullets clearly travel faster than these blasters.

Especially any bullet that uses electric magnetic propulsion. Fast enough to penetrate anything.

These and shotguns are often brought up in Jedi vs non-Jedi debates in Star Wars circles.

Apparently the closest thing to normal guns are called Slugthrowers, and the handwave as to why they aren't widely used is the ammo efficiency of blasters.

Because it doesn't fit the lore

there are actually slugthrowers but the fact they're so hard to use, suck versus blasters(and literally any sort of armor by the Imperial era) in normal combat, and have so many different calibers makes them inferior. And, considering that there were so few Jedi left by the time Episode IV happens, the thought of normal stormtroopers ever having to deal with them as opposed to normal forces carrying blasters that it was pointless.

Also, considering stormtroopers, they're pretty crap at shooting to begin with in the movies, so having a gun with a trajectory would be terrifying.

Any modern gun we have would easily kill a Jedi no problem. If they could develop a moon sized death cannon they can develop bullets and guns to fire these bullets.

id imagine a light saber could straight up disintegrate a bullet.

A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

id imagine a light saber could straight up disintegrate a bullet.

If anything it would melt through the light saber catching their clothes on fire.

the closest thing i know of that fires bullets are cycler rifles. theyre still able to be deflected by lightsabers, though. i dont think actual bullets are in the star wars universe, but i could be wrong.
also, they're pretty primitive weapons, which is probably why you dont see them used more

Plus you can't use the force on beams of lights but you can small rounds of lead.

technically the cycler rifles are canon but that's about it

Apparently, Sonic weapons are also a thing, and a good choice for fighting Jedi (unless you are underwater.)

I've had this idea for a while now: The jedi killer gun. It's basically a gun with 3 barrels in an equilateral triangle shape, each about 5 inches from the other. All barrels fire a laser at the same time. This is unblockable with a single line (a lightsaber) and hence at least one of the lasers will always hit the jedi.
