Author Topic: Steven Universe Megathread - Wanted  (Read 96727 times)

It feels like Teen Titans go gets seasons released far faster than any other show on this loving network.
TTG has 0 story telling, it's a sitcom cartoon, it takes less effort than say, AT, RS, or SU to make; of course it's getting released faster.

I've officially lost interest in the show.

That's why it's getting showed like 20 times a loving day because they are releasing episodes as fast as a warehouse.

This is why Regular Show, Adventure Time and Steven Universe get pushed to saturdays and forgotten about.

BOO YOU STINK

honestly i can't blame him lol

i'm still invested but i don't really feel too excited for the show's return cus i've just gotten so burned out with all this waiting. i'm sure once it kicks back i'll start going insane again

also i never posted about it but apparently steven universe episodes are airing every sunday from 12PM-2PM EST

Well do you people want a poorly written show like teen titans go?

No?

Then wait.

These people are actually writing stories that have to connect and make sense.

meanwhile with TTG "did you finish that 10 minute long filler of them just farting?" That just leaves 5 minutes left of the show to write!

ye the production of a typical SU probably has more than the typical TTG episode though that's probably not a fair comparison. i don't know if it really takes much longer to write, but there's definitely a lot more audio design and other challenges that probably don't apply to TTG

still, most of this hiatus stuff is the result of poor scheduling choices by CN and not the crew's production issues. if we didn't have bombs and promotional events all the time, episodes could be more spread out and we probably wouldn't have 100-day gaps. the idea of having 26 episodes in a season, i'm assuming, is to ideally be able to have one every other week for a year, but instead we're mostly just getting the occasional bomb.

iirc it takes at the most six months to make an episode, and though they definitely work on more than one at once, it's hard to keep up if you try to shove five episodes into a week all the time

The show creators came up with the Steven bombs, not cartoon network. I said this before. It wasn't a network decision.

i still need a source on that because i distinctly remember a crew member clarifying that cartoon network lets them know about bombs before they make episodes. i couldn't find the post when i looked for it tho

to me it would make sense that cartoon network would decide to do it because, for one, it's a promotional event done to draw in views, which the crew probably isn't as concerned about. most importantly though i think it would be a bit out of line to just insist that the network air your episodes a certain way. seems like it would be the other way around, and in every other case of airing schedules it's been the case that cartoon network is authoritative. i know they give the crew creative freedom but i'm fairly confident that CN is the Big Dog on anything concerning when and how the show actually airs.

and i definitely know that matt burnett has expressed disdain at the fact that CN is airing so many bombs because it burns through their episode buffer too quickly

edit: also it actually apparently takes around nine months to make an episode, but actually beginning the writing for the episode can happen months before

i'll shoot an ask at ben and hopefully he'll answer at some point

there has been bombs of RS and AT

The first stevenbomb was the idea of the crew, iirc the other bombs were the result of CN wanting more views, not because the crew wanted it.

It's the crews fault for starting something they can't control now.

yeah forget them for trying something different

There is a reason shows only release 1 episode per week.

Cartoon Network being the first to release 5 episodes a week and now there are huge gaps.
