never
they put her in the bubble zone she's gotta come back at some point to clobber some idiots

jasper will probably come back if they ever experiment with curing corruption

Sugar confirmed Jasper would come back in a later episode. Something like: "[these] characters are so good we can't afford to just get rid of them"

wait what was an steven universe

that right there is called risk-free storytelling

if she believes that good characters are too good to die off or leave the show then that means that no one's going to die because they're all good characters

yo when do they find all the dragon balls to fight the big yellow bitch again that stuff was whack

isn't the entire story predicated on the fact that steven's mom is ded?

also Jasper might not 'come back' in a later episode but we might get extensive flashbacks

if the character's dead at the beginning of the story it doesn't really count

plus it's already been established that steven's mom is steven

if the character's dead at the beginning of the story it doesn't really count
They've got to walk on a certain amount of eggshells considering that children's networks don't like permanent deaths of humanoid-like characters. If killing some insignificant character means getting the show canceled, that sounds like a stuff deal.

Hopefully, that changes soon. Considering shows on Cartoon Network (at the very least) are becoming more grown-up oriented, with some phrases once considered "too adult" being used regularly in the shows I've seen, hopefully, they'll evolve to have more grown-up plots as well.

I mean, I grew up on kid-oriented animated films from the 90s and 80s. People died permanently A LOT in those movies, and if none of the good guys did, the bad guy almost certainly got killed.

like this

I do think we'll see a gem get shattered by the end of the series, but it'll be towards the end for dramatic effect.
