Author Topic: Pecon is moving to Vermont  (Read 3531 times)

So I'm moving from the SF bay area in California to White Snowey Nowhere, Vermont. Does anyone live here? How's Burlington? I'm close to the Canadian border, so Ill be making occasional trips to Montreal. Hows Montreal?

I'm flying out in about 10 hours. Anticipation.

i think the maple syrup stores of vermont are nearby there. my grandma once mailed my family a package of maple syrup and breakfast stuff from there.

Montreal is an ugly, slummy city with horrible drivers.

Vermont is a beautiful state, I go skiing and hiking there all the time. Also the speed limits are high so that's a bonus.

Burlington is a very liberal city (not as liberal as the Bay Area, think a bit more centrist). It has a pretty nice downtown area, tons of outdoor activities to partake in -- as you're steps away from the mountains, and yards away from Lake Champlain. Burlington is very close to Montreal, and only a drive away from Boston and Portland (Maine, not Oregon). Oh it's also where Presidential candidate Sanders comes from.

All in all, it is a great little city with a lot to do and it's neat how you're moving there. Enjoy!

SOURCE: I've been all over VT on numerous occasions

I have family over there and apparently they spend an absolutely insane amount on gas to heat their house (like 10k a year or something silly). It's a weird concept as an Australian that it could get so cold that your pipes actually freeze.

as a canadian, sorry about the canadiens.

You'd better learn French because the Northeast US is a big tourist area for French Canadians.

Vermont is my favorite state by far. It's absolutely beautiful, I wish I could live there. I visit as often as possible.

I've been to montreals airport but never in the city.
They drive crazy there though.
Good luck.

If you're moving from the SF Bay then I hope you're ready for the change in population size and urban sprawl. As you said Vermont is mostly snowy nowhere. Their largest city, Burlington, is less than 50,000 people.

I've been to Vermont several times and it's a great place if you enjoy outdoor activities. Plus constitutional carry laws!

I've been to vermont a couple times, it's a few hours drive away from brooklyn. Very beautiful state. Lots of forests and parks around. I'd say you're very lucky!
