Had 2 wonderful games yesterday :^)
First one I was playing sion and our team was behind early but I was carrying teamfights with our olaf
Then our yasuo decided he was going to take top tower (btw he didn't have teleport) instead of defending mid inhib with us. We had to concede the inhib or we all would die. Then the enemy goes on Elder that we have to contest and all 5 go to it. I wreck their backline and kill the adc while mid gets away on 100 hp. Olaf is cleaning up with lux and then they get jumped by the Poppy. She kills lux and olaf as well and Yas is the last one alive. We need him to defend. Instead he Es into a 1v4, gets exhausted, and dies.
2nd game, our xerath is afk from the beginning. Their fizz gets heavily farmed and keeps roaming. Our jungler has to babysit mid or else we lose towers. I get camped to stuff by udyr and fizz.
<3 this game
Edit: to elaborate, I was really rage-y when I posted this because I was salty about the afk Xerath, but I think I've found some better words.
Playing a 4 vs 5 is never fun for either team. You don't feel accomplished if you win, and don't feel that you got a fair chance when you lose. As of right now, I have had five games this week with an afk, three on my team, two on the enemy team.
I want to pull my hair out at the way riot handles leaving/afk. I really do understand and have empathy for people with bad hardware or a bad connection. I used to play on a 15 fps toaster and my connection is unstable when more than six devices are on it. However, there is no reason that people leaving games, for whatever reason, are going unpunished.
Leavers have been a problem since the very beginning of League and there still is no adequate solution implemented after five and a half seasons. The only solution at the moment is to play a lot of games to overcome the small sample size.
This really isn't a satisfying or intuitive solution by Riot. I can't imagine it's very difficult to detect whether a player has moved from fountain or bought items, so perhaps riot could implement a system that detects whether a player is afk for the first five minutes, and if so, allows the team with the afk to vote to forfeit the match with reduced or no lp loss.
It's just mind boggling that a company as large as riot hasn't found a solution to people ruining ranked in the past five seasons than just "play more"
