I'm enjoying the plot so far but everything feels a bit rushed (probably cause there's only six episodes to the series) and Duchovny and Anderson's age is definitely showing as their acting has become pretty wooden (ok, admittedly Duchovny's was always sort of this way but he still have a vitality in his charm, now that he's an old man it doesn't carry as well).
The dude from community is really hamming up his performance.
Overall it was a little underwhelming. I knew something was gonna be off when they didn't even bother to reshoot anything for the title/credits sequence and just used the poorly pan and scanned version they use on the HD rerelease of the first 9 seasons. I mean, the gritty footage from the early nineties cut directly after modern 1080p television was really jarring and feels a tad tired.
I have hopes that at least this new conspiracy is fun to unravel and that maybe they shot episodes chronologically, so this was just Mulder and Scully's first stint back and things will pick up in quality after the first episode.
I have episode 2 DVR'd and will be watching it later tonight, see if my opinions change or not.
