Author Topic: Watch out for an iOS glitch that will "permanently" brick your device  (Read 4265 times)

yes, but it's common sense that setting your phones date all the way back to 1970 will forget something up most of the time. maybe what I said was too harsh or something, sorry.
it's common sense if you're a guy who works with computers. if you're just buying a phone you would not know such a thing.
ok maybe it's just me but i wouldn't just set my stuff to an older date without knowing what would happen, especially if i didn't know about phones at all. i really don't get how this is so baffling
most people also wouldn't assume that doing something so harmless and innocuous as changing the date on your phone would cause damage. you expect someone to know that setting the phone's date back 46 years would brick it, even though that makes no sense unless you are a nerd or it's your job or something

edit: thought about this. i was kind of a richard about it. sorry.

I assume this means all iPhones will be bricked in 2038 as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_2038_problem
If they are 64 bit time wont stop untill about three hunderd billion years.
I like how they just stalled to problem so far they dont have to worry about it later instead of just fixing it.

implying we'll be here in 300 billion years.

I don't know why people still buy apple.

Their computers still can't even run most games, lol. This has been an issue with apple since the 90s. Windows is clearly the better gaming platform.

Not everyone who buys a computer uses them for video games. Most people who buy Macs use it for more casual purposes.

Oh I know, you go into a book store or coffee shop and everyone has a mac book.

But uhhh, we're talking about their mobile devices, on iOS. They have games and even gets games before Android does.

yeah ipad air 2 is the latest one
I wasn't saying I didn't know, I just didn't know which iPad you had (I'm just clarifying that I'm not dumb when it comes to Apple)
But yeah, I just looked up the iPad Air 2 is 64 bit. Heck, even the original iPad Air is 64 bit!

Honestly they can just change the time value to 64-Bit and be done with it.

You can do that with a software update. If apple tries to sell a new iphone and say it fixes the problem because of the hardware, its a ripoff.

Tony, the reason people buy Apple, and the reason Apple exists, is because with a normal PC, you need to buy the mouse, the PC, the monitor, and every other peripheral. Apple's PCs are and always were all-in-one. Some even had the keyboard attached to the entire thing.

And Apple's phones were good phones until Jobs died. I still have my iP1 and it's sensibility both in accelerometer and touchscreen is rather impressive for a 2007 phone where people still used motorollas and kickflips.

Back then apple computers had the absolute smallest screen imaginable.

How do you count to infinity in a computer while keeping all the precision?
Solve this and you win a Noble Prize.

>Paying for $1,200 mac rather than $700 windows PC for sake of convenience

Hold up
THeir computer can run games, the OS just doesnt support them.
Im not a big apple fan but I have used it once and it godly for adobe software
Well to be honest id rather just get a hackintosh instead of buying an over expensive mac. The products are way too overpriced and thats one of the reason I dont like apple.

Infinity is non existand. Well it it but it isnt at the same time.
Infinity is just a word to express a series of number thats so big you cant write it down or pronounce it or if it doesnt have its own name/use (See grahams stupidly large number). While most people thing infinity goes from 1 to something, there can also be an infinite amount of number between 1 and 2. Hell even between 1 and 1.1.
Or something like this
I suck at explaining
Well I tried
Suck it
