...Because I'm a natural born citizen you loving handicap what kind of dipstuff question is that
asking out of actual curiosity here, why should immigrants be under greater scrutiny for worthiness? fundamentally, not asking about existing or future laws here, i don't really get why people who want to move here should have to prove themselves excessively worthy to participate in our society, especially with at the bar set by this RAISE act. do you even agree with how high that bar is? it all seems like a bit much to me

im perfectly fine with rich and highly skilled only being allowed.
stupid libs think we just have infinite money and can keep paying out the welfare.

it doesn't matter where you were born, if anyone who doesn't fit those criteria is a drain on the economy, how aren't you?

Because I'm already a part of the economy? It's almost like you didn't read the criteria and the reasons behind this. The majority of immigrants aren't skilled workers. We already have enough unskilled workers looking for work, why would we import more unskilled labor? Furthermore, 50% of these people come in and immediately qualify for welfare. Why would we pay welfare to unskilled immigrants who just got to the country and have done literally nothing to put into that welfare program that they're pulling from?
Why would any criteria for immigration apply to a loving citizen? Do you even understand the logic you're trying to go with in order to make this statement? We're gonna start deporting citizens that don't have a college degree and don't have a ton of money in the back? America's gonna be literally only rich people who speak English? That's where that line of thought ends. Are you loving handicapped? Can you guys do some actual criticizing of the ideas behind the bill instead of just screeching about how this is gonna stop more immigrants we don't even need from entering the US? Can you provide a good reason for allowing 1 million+ people into the country a year? Can you justify raising the competition for unskilled labor when we already have college graduates fighting over who gets to make coffee or flip burgers or push carts full of other people's stuff through Amazon warehouses? It doesn't make sense. There is no reason to fight this. Can you negotiate the criteria to be less severe? Sure. But to say it is a senseless act that should be thrown out at the first glance is stupid.

lets make english the national language now thanks

reminder that anyone who makes any form of purchase in the united states contributes to the economy

While we're at it, I'd just like to point out that this idea of immigrants swarming in and 'draining our economy to death through welfare programs' is just demonstrable bullstuff, and I can prove it with actual statistics to anyone who cares to listen. Immigration is virtually always a positive thing for the economy because it creates a new flood of human capital that businesses can exploit to grow themselves. Welfare programs cost taxpayers like $2,300 per capita per year, and the average GDP in the United States is over $57,000 per capita per year. It is impossible not to 'break even' by bringing in people who are willing and able to work.

dude have you ever even paid any form of tax that doesn't show up on the bottom of a grocery receipt?

Rich CEOs are a bigger drain on resources than immigrants ever will be. Companies are fully capable of functioning without a guy sitting atop it doing nothing but collecting the money.

Welfare also costs ~$2-3k per capita per year, meaning that if they're working virtually any job, they're paying off their welfare in the form of economic productivity. Even if they aren't paying income taxes, they are buying stuff at the store. They are working for a boss who pays income taxes. They're supporting a company that hires employees that pay income tax. It is virtually impossible not to break even by importing immigrants that work.

Even if we assume depression-level unemployment rates, it's still a net-positive for our economy. If you went to the University of Chicago and looked for the oldest, most curmudgeony conservative economist you could find, he would still tell you this kind of crackdown on immigration is bad for the economy.

Try again
Better question: do you think you've worked enough to pay off the $78-240k taxpayers have spent to put your ass through twelve years of public schooling? At least working-age immigrants weren't educated in our country. They come to work having received none of the public schooling benefits given to naturalized citizens. Yet you still think you're somehow an economic priority?
