if a law considers you a criminal for simply existing incorrectly through no fault of your own then i'd consider that a pretty mcfreakin poorly written law. i can agree in principle at least that people who enter a country illegally are breaking the law and should be punished (in the context of US law my opinion isn't as straightforward because of gripes i have with the system, but it at least logically follows and i acknowledge that), though children who simply got brought along for the ride aren't accomplices. they aren't complicit in the crimes of people who made the decisions for them and i don't see why they should suffer the same consequences.
Anyone who enters this country through illegal means is an illegal immigrant. You being cognizant of the fact that you crossed the border illegally is irrelevant. The act in and of itself is illegal. Just because Jaunito was still suckling his mom when she came here doesn't mean he's not illegal. He's still illegal. That's just the fact of the matter. That's the whole point of having a border. What, are we gonna let people start chucking their children over the wall and just keep them? They suffer the same consequences because them being here is a crime itself. It has nothing to due with sins-of-the-father nonsense. It's just how immigration laws work.
if obama bin laden didn't install those mandatory conveyor belts on the mexican border we wouldn't even be dealing with all these illegal immigrants, believe me
Stop drinking
Because DACA ended and because conservatives refuse to reform on immigration issues. That is the only reason why. There is no reason why a society that writes its own laws can't change the system. By defending this you are defending the ideal of screwing over innocent, hard-working people. Pointing out that they're 'illegal' is redundant because it's fully within our power to change that.
Myeh myeh muh innocent working peepuh shut the forget up
I don't give a stuff about their sob story or how hard they're working they're still
ILLEGAL and that's all that matters in terms of dishing out punishment by law. As I said, we should make exceptions for certain cases, like those that ended up in the military or maybe even those that are already in college or whatever, and those who have been here since infancy and genuinely do not know any other country but America, but having a job doesn't mean you get to stay here. That's some bullstuff. Get out of here with that. Those are jobs that can - and damn well should - go to legal citizens.
