I never called you stupid. Stupid and ignorant are two different things.
An unwarranted insult nonetheless, and at that, not a valid argument.
Honestly I've posted about Sanders so many times in the past and it always seems to fall on deaf ears. It's easier just to link to a video explaining it.
Then get a better source.
Then why were you saying that Anti Sanders people have nothing valid against him?
Because most of what people say are either attacks at his character, or just plain stupid and uneducated. I said I try to do my research, and I can tell that much. It's mostly the arguments of "that he's just raising taxes" or "pandering to people wanting free stuff".
Want to look at those countries again? France is in an economic crCIA for doing similar policies to what Sanders proposes. It took the Soviet Union 70 years to crumble. The policies in these european countries have been around for less than 30 and already have been seeing problems. We have no clue whether these policies will make the country or break the country.
You named two countries, one of which wasn't even a socialist country, but straight up communist. Their situation was almost completely worse than that of Riddler's regime. I say almost for the sake of subjectivity but I can't even think of a way that it wasn't.
England, Ukraine, Spain, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Iceland, and obviously Canada - these are all perfectly fine places to live, all with their own problems, but not nearly as many or as significant (and stupid) as the very foundation that is our country's inner workings, infrastructure and political leadership.
Sanders isn't much better. I just saw the Dem debate tonight and Sanders always riles on about the "ebil rich guiz" and is promising free college, $15 minimum wage, free healthcare, all while promising that the taxes will mostly go on the rich (wont work, see France). Bernie is essentially a political pinata. People beat him with votes, and fee stuff comes out.
Again with the "free stuff" argument, and, I'll say a lot about this, because I think it's important.
About free college: Education is one of the most important freedoms a citizen can have, because education leads to having a good job, being able to support yourself, and ultimately living a fair life. That's not rocket science. But people believing that coming out of it with abhorrent mounds of debt is perfectly fine... isn't really right. And, as a young 18yo student, there's no easy way to circumvent that
because of the massive costs in the first place. There aren't a lot of non-minimum wage jobs you can obtain with no work experience outside of mowing lawns.
About minimum wage: The simple fact of the matter is that minimum wage is
not a living wage, and that the people who are working these sorts of jobs aren't always just the high school / college students as common myth might say. They're families with their own sets of problems, including the need to feed a house of four or five on a salary of ~20k a year. Minimum wage right now is much too low to account for inflation. It would have been fine maybe fifty years ago, but not now. It needs to be higher.
There have been a few cities that enacted raises of the minimum wage, but have done it in a way that didn't really allow for businesses - small businesses especially - to properly prepare for it, unfortunately. Instead, raising it gradually over time will help to not forget over employers who wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford it. This is what Sanders plans to do.
And no, I don't believe everyone should get free money, because that's how inflation happens in the first place, but I do believe everyone has an equal opportunity to live a happy life. If you don't have enough money to even begin trying to do that, then there's a problem.
About healthcare: Honestly, I shouldn't have to say much more than the fact that we punish people for accidents that aren't their fault is loving bullstuff. This in particular really pisses me off, and how right-minded people perceive this. Not even just accidents, just like... well, cancer, for one. A pretty big one.
I'm on two types of ADD medication, and without health insurance, I'd need to pay $300-1000 total for it. The massive range is because it fluctuates, which is a problem in and of itself. There are other forms of prescriptions that are even higher up the loving wall, so much so that when I told my foreign friend about it, he was surprised.
He was actually surprised and appalled that we're charging so much and here it's just normal for us to deal with it.One problem with all of this is unmitigated and especially evil business practices. In particular: privatizing the parts of our economy that people rely on to either get good jobs, or, well,
stay alive? Things like healthcare and education should not be in a free market, because of what's happening now: people selling their organs to pay off an organ transplant. More realistically, just having massive amounts of debt hanging above you for the rest of your life.
There's a reason why Sanders always goes on and on about millionaires and billionaires, Wall Street, and the top 1%, because the amount of wealth near the top of the pyramid is the root of a lot of problems. Sanders addresses plenty of other issues, however. That is, how we deal with policing and crime, how we treat criminals and overly-prioritize imprisonment, how we treat drug abuse as a crime and not an illness, how we
don't treat mental illnesses as illnesses, the invisible racial barrier that people love to just disregard all the time, making fun of it and making the problem worse in the process, immigration, god-awful trade agreements, our ridiculously high military budget, the horrible living conditions and treatment of Native Americans, our lack of access to internet that isn't absolute loving unreliable trash and isn't monopolized, and I could go on.
He needs to repeat these things just so people know how and what's affecting them. The details. The real issues. His message absolutely needs to be heard by everyone within our borders, and passing them off as repetitive is the last thing that needs to be done.
People don't just want "free stuff", people want an equal opportunity. People want the system to stop loving them in the ass for factors they often can't control. People want to understand the why and how of our nation's broken economy. People just want to be happy.
