we were in japan at the end of wwii
and korea after that war
oh and don't forget germany
you could call that "imperialism"
oh but wait they aren't chopping heads off and raping women why is that
Maybe it's because we left after we beat their asses and we barely tried to make them like us. Look up the Golden Arches Theory and you'll see why Germany, Japan and Korea are the way they are now.
You can even take that back all the way to the Philippines in the 1800s. Only real reason the country's forgeted up right now is because of Rodrigo Duterte. Otherwise, they're somewhat ok.
Clearly not everybody seems to know what Imperialism was. Imperialism was going into foreign lands and conquering them for the sole purpose of extracting resources. Germany and Japan were themselves Imperialist powers. Areas that were affected by Imperialism include the entirety of the Americas, almost all of Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, basically everywhere except Europe. Again turning to Germany and Japan, the U.S. was throwing around loads of cash under the Marshall Plan to rebuild those nations.
As for the Middle East, back in WW1, the arabs were promised sovereignty by the British in exchange for military aid against the Ottomans. At the end, the British betrayed them and kept them in the Empire. At the end of WW2, people sitting in rooms far away from the lands in question drew lines on maps, forming the 'stans. Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq were the richest, most developed countries in the Middle East. Then the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, destroying infrastructure, demolishing the society. The U.S. gave support and weapons to this guy named Osama bin Laden who fought the Soviets, but no money or presence for reconstruction. Iran hates the U.S. because the CIA overthrew their democratic government and installed a dictator. Later, Saddam and a U.S. invasion happened to Iraq, leaving Iran, a country that hates us, as the dominant power. And that is why the Middle East a) hates us and b) is so unstable.
Notanedit: I reread your post before posting, no idea what you're trying to say about imperialism, reconstruction, and Japan and Germany. Here's this history dump anyway. Enjoy.
