the statement itself is true. the implication he's trying to make is that he's responsible, which is the questionable part. regardless, a "mostly false" rating is a little confusing

The statement they took was "the National Debt in my first month went down by 12 billion". Not that he has anything to do with it, nor that it will stay that way. Really because thats not what the tweet they took there said. The tweet said the national debt went down by 12 billion, which it did. There is no other way around this.

Gonna have to side with Beachbum on this. If Politifact wants to establish itself as an objective fact-checker, then they can't label out-of-context truths as lies. Because their willingness to establish context for certain truths is going to hinge entirely on the political beliefs of their editors, they're going against the whole point of checking political facts.

That being said, the article they wrote makes an extremely convincing case for why Annoying Orange's tweet is misleading. However his tweet isn't false at all.

i'm not really surprised, but i guess it shows he's probably not too interested in cutting down the deficit at the moment (which, admittedly, is a pretty rough task)
